Yes I agree totally with this. Those you mention are so blinkered - they can't write about anything else. They should be addressing the whole issue of equity and creating a fairer football environment. There is enormous scope for investigating this issue but sadly 'journalists' are not interested. Most jump on the 'sports-washing' band wagon and never question the motives of the red top clubs to stop City and anyone else who has the potential to become a serious player. It's difficult to come to any other conclusion than they see their role to protect the status quo and they will either ignore any contrary evidence or distort factual information until it informs their agenda.
The UAE / Abu Dhabi are hugely influential in world politics and finance and are highly regarded as businessmen, allies and custodians.

Sheikh Mansour bought City for £200 million with the ambition to create the best of everything in world football particularly on the playing pitch.

He/UAE/Abu Dhabi don't need sportswashing to enhance their nations, profiles, reputations or popularity.

They are amongst the most advanced, and fastest growing countries and economy's on the plant and advancing at at phenomenal rate.

Manchester City were purchased as an investment (£200M v £4.8B) and for the Sheikh's sporting pleasure.

Manchester thanks you Sheikh Mansour !!

Agree absolutely - they don't need to engage in sports-washing and the truth is the Sheikh is an astute business person who has made an incredibly good long-term investment. Just what the industry needs - but of course no credit is given from the usual suspects!

I read somewhere that his private car collection is worth £3.2bn and he owns two super-yachts with combined value of £1.1bn. Yet these clowns can’t contemplate his private wealth (and he is quids-in on his investment in City !) and play the State-owned card. This of course then opens the door to all the “sports washing” bollocks and human rights bullshit because a deeply conservative, theocratic Middle Eastern state has different cultural and social values (& naturally inferior) to ours. It’s fucking infuriating.

Yes, remember some in the Kippax singing ‘Sammy Mac’ on his home debut and getting drowned out by boos. This was after he’d scored in his debut away at Coventry!

It was a desperate time, feeding off the rags’ scraps.

I guess Terry Cooke was the last one who made that moved directly until Tevez came here, as Schmiechel came via Villa.

Unless I’m missing someone!
Surely we bought Tevez from West Ham? He was only on loan to them lot.

I know not many can read the article in the link below (since it is in swedish and probably also behind a paywall). But the story is about Bert Trautmanns life and his time as a goalkeeper in City and how he became a symbol of reconciliation of sorts, after WW2. It was published by one of Swedens biggest newspapers and it was a great and interesting read.

Don’t really know what I want to say by this. I guess it felt good to read something about the FA-cup final and Manchester City that wasn’t centered around allegations about financial breaches or how we must be stopped at all costs.
