This post is just a little aside as much as anything else but just about noteworthy all the same.

Denis Irwin was interviewed on RTE 6 o Clock News this evening. Man Utd are playing a friendly in Dublin and he was wheeled out for some promo pics etc. (the United shirt he wore had no main sponsor on it by the way).

The entire piece - a story about Manchester United coming to Dublin to play some other crowd, remember - was announced as "Coming up after the break Denis Irwin gives his verdict on Manchester City winning the treble".

To be fair to Irwin, he was respectful, if maybe a bit resigned about City ("they're up there now for the rest to aim at and take them down").

Now, I remember in 2012, City in the Community brought the FA Cup over to Ireland and all the media wanted to talk to Patrick Vieira about was Roy Keane this and Man Utd that...

Now, it's gone full circle. United were trying to promote themselves but being cornered into answering questions about Manchester City. City's was the name being used for audience retention o that evening's news

As I say, just a passing observation on my part - and only a small moment in the grand scheme of things but I thought it was worth sharing.
Pound for pound think Dennis Irwin was Fergusons best outfield signing and didn't seem a twat unlike Beckham, Giggs etc

Seeing a lot of City shirts about here now on children.

I’ve actually had United and Liverpool fans complain about this to me calling them glory hunters.

Yes that’s Irish Man Utd and L’pool fans who grew up in the 80s and 90s criticising young kids now for supporting city

I’d like to announce the start of my Defund the Daily Telegraph .
I am cancelling my subscription as I refuse to pay for their so called ‘football writers’ who are basically just a bunch of rag/scouse sycophants.
Oliver Brown
Sam Wallace
James Burt
Ducker
Carragher
Tell them why you are cancelling/ bias twats.

ITK’s often have been told something in good faith. Players change their mind. I was told by someone very prominent in the game that Hazard was a done deal. Everything agreed till he and Mancini butter heads over the position he would be played.

I think us crushing Madrid lead them to act in desperation, they may well have blown our deal out of the water. Make no mistakes about it, that 4-0 crushing changed the landscape of European football.

No better example of when Sturidge was banned for texting his brother who placed a bet on his transfer. He was banned despite not signing for the club.

Bookies really have a cheek…
