I remember a cringeworthy article about the England World Cup winning Rugby team. He declared that Football was nothing compared to Rugby Union. He suggested abandoning Football because Rugby Union was much better as a sport.

He carried on about the why everyone should support Newcastle Rugby because the had Jonny Wilkinson. Unfortunately at the time he was writing had played next to no Rugby for 18 months!

Hattenstone is a decent writer when he focusses on the real issues rather than trying to plug whatever current hobbyhorse be has in his mind.

The KDB article is one of his better attempts but he still can’t help himself drifting into his familiar territory.
