Melbourne City FC Thread

It's the same in Rugby League.

No one remembers who came top, it's the Grand Final that really matters.

I didn't like it when it came in years ago in RL, and still dont!

Not Melbourne City but an A-league game.
Wellington Phoenix beat Sydney FC 1-0 in Sydney.
They had a player sent off in the 71st minute which on replay was reasonable.
They had a second player sent off in the 86th minute for an altercation between 2 players - forehead to forehead. The Sydney player only got a yellow - to my mind both should have got the same punishment.
Then in added time Sydney were awarded a penalty for handball. A high ball went over the Phoenix player's head and was headed by a Sydney player a couple of feet away. The ball ricocheted onto the Phoenix player's hand. The goalie saved the spot kick but ...................
When the ball was played back into the middle it struck a raised arm near his head - a second penalty.
This time it was kicked high and wide.
The referee was definitely a homer but in spite of him and VAR justice was served.

FYI - we lived in Melbourne for 9 years (1991 - 2000) - before Melbourne City were formed so never got to see them in the flesh. But we don't like Sydney. Same as Mancunians despising Londoners.

Weirdest thing is the game is to be continued from the 20th minute with us leading 1:0.

Just dumb.

Pity we didn't have the linesman who is currently officiating the Brisbane v Melbourne game for the derby. He has flagged for three clear offsides now when a Brisbane player has been in a similar position to Rashford was.
