Melbourne City FC Thread

Now that was disappointing.

Tensions were high all week. The APL the new governing body of the League announced that they had signed a deal with NSW government to have the next 3 grand finals played in Sydney. Their logic was that it would then become a highly sought after event and other capitals would bid, similar to super bowl. What they overlooked is that only the competing teams fans playing in the final would be interested in going. Just a dumb idea that was universally bagged. From this the active groups from all the clubs announced they were all planning walk outs at 20 minutes which I still can't find the specific reason but anyway they were going to walk at 20 minutes.

From the start of the game many flares were ripped from both ends and especially when we scored. I haven't seen so many flares for a long time.

At 19 minutes the City active leaders were call for the walkout. The ref had stopped the game and a both groups began to exit. Several flares from the Victory end were thrown and City keeper Glover threw one back into the crowd.
At this point that triggered a storming of the pitch. Several ran at Glover and one moron grabbed a sand bucket and hit Glover with it.

Security and police surrounded players and was chaotic for a while. All the players left. Spectators removed from the field and both active terraces becam empty.

The rest of the crowd including yours truly had no idea whats was going on. We waited for atleast 30 minutes without knowing anything. Then at what would have been some City players came out without boot socks etc and it was obvious the game was off.

That bucket they threw at the goalie created that much dust you could hear the whole stadium react to it! Proper Australian that is!

What a set of babies the fans are. Chuck flares at the keeper, he throws it back and they are outraged.

Don't chuck flares then snowflakes. What is the keeper supposed to do, play on with a flare in front of goal?

“The fans” aren’t a collective. The flare was clearly thrown by a complete bellend. If it’s thrown back into the stand there’s a pretty fair chance it could injury a complete innocent.

There were plenty of things the ‘keeper could have done that didn’t involve a high risk of injuring innocents.
