Message from Mr Huckerby !

I always liked Hucks, he was brilliant in the Keegan promotion season. One of those who was way too good for the championship, but not quite consistent enough to be a regular scorer in the Premier League. Always had a good attitude and was 'up' for every game.
He's an absolute legend at Coventry and Norwich as well.
Wonder what he's up to nowadays? Whatever it is, good luck to him

Contact Our ProjectsFor many years I’ve participated in all sorts of local events doing bits and bobs. I've been to different schools, I've opened community events, I’ve visited patients in hospital at Christmas, which is great but I always wanted to do more.

I am thrilled that the Teenage Cancer Trust and their Blue Moon Walk is the first project that is being sponsored by the Darren Huckerby Trust.

About the Teenage Cancer Trust Blue Moon WalkEvery day in the UK, six young people are told they have cancer. This is a rising figure and there are already more young people than children with the disease. These young people often get a raw deal, receiving hospital treatment in inappropriate facilities catering for children or the elderly.

Teenage Cancer Trust focuses on the needs of teenagers and young adults with cancer by providing specialist teenage units in NHS hospitals designed to give teenagers the very best chance of a positive outcome. As well as state-of-the-art facilities to keep patients occupied during long stays in hospital, the units provide an environment where teenagers can meet others in a similar situation.

The charity estimates that, with the units they currently have around the UK, only half of all teenagers diagnosed with cancer now have access to the dedicated, specialist support they provide. But Teenage Cancer Trust's aim is to build enough units so that every young person with cancer will be treated on one.

You can help us right now by supporting the Blue Moon Walk, which is raising funds for the construction of the first Teenage Cancer Trust unit for East Anglia at Addenbrooke's Hospital, Cambridge. Building work has now begun and will cost Teenage Cancer Trust £2.5 million to complete.

WOW !! He`s very much involved with local Charities. And one called Blue Moon Walk.
Top guy as ever.

Went over to play in the States for San Jose in 2008, won newcomer of the year award, but had to retire in 2009 due to a recurring hip injury. Real shame, as he's still only in his mid thirties!

Met him in a pub in Norwich about 18 months ago and spoke to him about that game. I reminded him that he probably missed about 10 chances that night on top of the four he scored.

He's back in Norwich now with his family. Think he does match day stuff at Norwich. Lives opposite the pub I saw him in and he had popped in for a quick one after picking the kids up from school. Top bloke, was happy to chat.
