Message from Mr Huckerby !

Loved Huckerby, him and Mark Kennedy were my hero's in that promotion season, loved when Kennedy did an interview as his voice never suited him.

He's on Twatter?? Why??

?? Why not ??

Does he play in america still??

No. He had a hip injury and had to come home I believe. I think he played for Leeds recently in the Masters indoor competition.

I know his brother, Scott, quite well as we have a number of mutual friends. Scott's a good lad and all his mates speak highly of Darren although I only met him once when I was very pissed. I suspect he will not remember me. At least I hope not.

At the time he played for us I could never understand the amount of abuse he got from Blues. The main issue being the amount of chances he would miss. My counter argument was always that he used to make a lot of his own chances himself so if he missed a few so what. Played brilliant at Maine Road v Forest one game and stood up to Paul Butler offering him out at Wolves as I recall. Bit of a poor mans Bellamy with a better attitude.

Another massive fan of Huckerby, if he had been a better decision maker on the field he would have had England caps. He seemed to shoot when he should have passed, and he tried to pass or set up when he should have gone on his own. He had everything else and I have only good memories of him.

Huckerby was one of my favourite footballers when I first started to get into it, sent him a well wish on twitter, was one of my first favourites at City too, the other being Reyna.

Have to smile when I think of that moment when he scored at Millwall (aka the land that time forgot) and he applauded the empty seats at the away end; City fans had been banned from the New Den and the Millwall 'fans' had been banned from Maine Road.
