You trying to say that to me there? I was trying to prove a point that anyone can score a good goal in a tournament. Just that Messi scored a good goal in a tournament, doesnt mean that hes been special at International level.
 
you simply cannot compare the two.. ronaldo is just about coming to his prime... messi is 21 FFS. by the time he is ronaldosage messi will have done more than tranny would have done in his career

Age is a good point. Messi is probably more skillful player and can create more, but Ronaldo is more versatile and is more dangerous goal threat than Messi. I would say that for premier league Ronaldo is the better player just because of his physique and good dead ball situations.

But he has been special at International level. What about the 2005 U20 World Championship? The 2008 Olympics? He has delivered good performances for Argentina, he was only 18 at the 2006 World Cup, and he still got a goal, and he played well in the 2007 Copa America.
 
i cant believe people are using u20 world cups and olympics to argue that messi performs at international level, are they even proper tournaments?!

the bottom line is...

messi is more gifted, ronaldo is more effective

your own football philisophy would dictate which you would rather have but there is no way you can say one is definately better than the other...
 
Ronaldo is more effective and HAS cut it in the hardest league in the world, Until Messi score 40+ goals in premier leage, im afraid Ronaldo is the choice. Messi has time, Space in the spanish league and plays in Blistering heat most of the time. Altho the last bit might not make a blind bit of differerence it also might. Would be interesting to see him playing against Pompey on a freezing December tuesday night with pissing down rain and every Popmpey defender kickin lumps out o him, cos at the end of the day thats what they did agenst Ronaldo, But he was to good.
