In Cheshire from the Norman conquest until as recently as 1875 when it was one of eight parishes included in Stockport Sanitary Rural District - now just Stockport, Cheshire.

No, I’ve told you once, Stockport hasn’t been in Cheshire since the 70s when it was incorporated into Greater Manchester.

Old people in Stockport get a Greater Manchester bus pass which gives free travel on trains in Greater Manchester and the Metrolink.

Those outside, in Cheshire, have to get a Cheshire bus pass that excludes them from free rail and metrolink travel.

Just like Man U (M16 0RA) do not reside in Manchester but Greater Manchester. Just like Stockport.
