Just had this at work - for all blues using the tram from Alti for the match:

All Metrolink services to and from Altrincham are suspended this weekend and a replacement bus service will be running.

The disruptions have been announced at all tram stops throughout this week - please can you remind all Colleagues who use the Metrolink to allow extra time for their journey this weekend.

Thanks

Re: Metrolink

Same for trams from East Didsbury and Eccles.

I magine they are fxng the points at Cornbrook again

Re: Metrolink

People call the trains but fuck me, is there EVER a weekend where the trams actually run?

I know engineering work has to be done at weekends but most of their network has only been built in the last few years.

I got the metrolink add on this year, wouldnt have bothered if I knew they were going to schedule works on game days. I'll catch the train in tomorrow at my cost.

Re: Metrolink

Don't miss getting this over-priced shambles of a system whatsoever. Used to get it to work and back every day and there would be problems near enough every day.

It's more reliable, quicker and cheaper for me to drive.

Re: Metrolink

Will be the first time the service has run on a match day tomorrow from Ashton,so I'll try it out, can't complain for £2.60
Used it a few times now, does anyone actually ever come & check your ticket

guards at the end last time I used it.

Re: Metrolink

Used it from town to Ashton last night despite it taking 3 times longer than the train and costing around the same.

At one stop they had maybe 10 inspectors and about 4 or 5 copeprs and they were taking details of a fair few people who must have been clocked without a ticket. £100 fine.

The ashton trams are pretty quiet though which isnt surprising given the train service.

Agree abt the train, the tram is good for coming home late though
Got on at Ashton moss, park and ride the other day & couldn't get a seat
And last week near enough had a carrage to ourselves.

Not surprised you couldnt get a seat as there arent many seats on the new trams - its all open space!

When was it rammed though? Weekend or during the week? and waht time - ive yet to see it busy.

They are not accountable to anyone so they can be shit.
The city council keep telling us how brilliant they are so they (the council) are not likely to admit the zervice is crap.
If you choose to have a free ride make sure you know the fare. Then you can say you paid whatever but lost the ticket. It might work.

Re: Metrolink

I pretend to be polish ever time I get caught I just say Polska Polska over and over gain and act foreign. I say me Poznan and they must just assume that no one would make such a twat of themselves and tell me to fuckoff. It helps if you smile when they pull you as well and pretend to get your wallet out to pay. Good acting experience.

Worked for me last 3 times. Took ten minutes last time though in my pigeon polish English and I was seconds away from saying oh fuck it I'm from urmston as they were proving stubborn.

Re: Metrolink

I drove up Ashton New Road yesterday. Not rode the Ashton route yet but does the tram get held up in traffic or are the lights configured to speed them through?

Not been round the Ashton area for a while and it looks pretty cool with all the open stations. The locals must be made up with this on their doorstep. I wish it was nearer my house.

Re: Metrolink

Its an embarrassing transit system. Always signal problems at Cornbrook, customer service emails don't get answered and the info screens are laghable with trams overtaking each other or disappearing just before they're due
