MG ZS

Apple says hi…..
I know, but with technology and expertise from the west. Without what they've stolen intellectually and been given because of their slave labour rates they'd be nowhere. Apart from fireworks I don't think they've ever invented anything

If it was it'd be rusty when delivered
this is true to be fair, but it would also have an ICE, hard suspension and feel like you're actually driving it, not pointing it vaguely in the general direction you want to go ;)

Just a quick interject, as I don't want to get involved in an "are the Chinese shit builders" debacle.

Many missing the point, in so much as this is an suv type vehicle being offered in Oz for a little over 11k on the road, with extended warranty. If folk cannot see the value in this then fair enough..

I still maintain its a buy, and then simply go again over a 3 year timescale.

No one is intimating they are of BMW Merc standards, but pound for pound they eschew VFM motoring if the budget is tight.

Vauxhall, Ford, Citroën Peugeot etc etc are also shit builds, the only difference being these brands only have courage to offer a 3 year warranty, as they'e aware their products are non resilient

At least the Chinese don't have ideas above their station re pricing, and stand on with a prolonged warranty. Remember well when Kia landed on the scene with their big warranties n everyone said bag o shit!. Look at Kia taking sales now.

Alongside our daughter I know two other neighbours that drive a newer MG and are are all as happy as Larry with their purchase.

I'd snap there hands of in the UK for a brand new one at £11,000

Er, apart from (in no particular order) gunpowder, paper, printing, cast iron, porcelain, the compass, multi-stage rockets, banknotes, chess, the umbrella and the wheelbarrow (no, really).
; )

Just on MG & the British Leyland group
There's an industrial park in Speke near the airport and it is a former site where BL cars were produced. It's actually named "Triumph business park"
Back in the late 90's, I was working for a company on the Wirral and my boss and myself went to visit a potential customer at this business park
My boss was originally from Speke and said his Dad worked for BL at this plant
He then said his Dad told him "whenever you hear the stories of workers sticking matches in "on" buttons when working the night shift and then going to sleep and cars were falling off the production line, these are all true" and then he said "the production line would come to a halt, probably due to someone sabotaging the machinery so they didn't have to do any work. The engineer would take an hour to turn up, look at it and then say "yes, it's broken. I'll go and get my tools" and then take at least another hour before returning"

Christ.......That took me back to my MGB I had in the 70's, lovely car but by far the worst car I've ever owned re reliability. Nothing but trouble. Got so pissed off with it in the end I traded it in for a trouble free Capri.

PS Just remembered my Dad's Austin 1100, now that was a pile of shite..
