Micah Richards 2 stone overweight

Is it just me being critical, or is Micah's bulk preventing him being the player he was last year? I have watched him this season, he is nowhere near as sharp as he was and doesnt get nearly close enough when he marks his man.... I think it's a case of 'living the dream' before he has achieved a thing! Id actually let him go
He's had a few injury niggles which could have affected his fitness, but 2 stone is a lot of weight

Martin Offiah was well built and the most agile players I have ever seen.

This guy had the lot too, he wasn't slim:

Micah's Bulk would never stop him running fast, it might make him less agile though.

Check out this guy in his prime. Never stopped him running fast and hes probably bulkier than Micah.

Difference between running in a straight line and being agile though.
Exactly, re-read what the guy said.

Where is it stated that Micah is 2 stone overweight, or is the OP just doing a rag media stunt and putting a sensational headline to get attention?

Micah probably is bigger than last year, but he's by no means in the same stature of a Richard Dunne type mould, he's bigger but he's not carrying water weight or fat. Perhaps he's suffering a lack of form rather than this ridiculous idea of putting on a bit of muscle = the agility of a tuning elephant. He hardly looks 'out of place big' on the pitch.

If Neddy & Micah were smaller they definitely wouldn't have handled Roberts as they did yesterday...he's a big fucker n they wud have gone flying,.

yeh but the way roberts was playing if it was against a smaller defender we would of been awarded freekiks galore for backing in etc.

Shock shock horror horror...a young lad who's burst onto the scene, valued at £20m before he even hit 20 and has had the hopes of 40,000+ people put on his shoulders for the past few years is now going through a bit of a bad patch....wow he's in crisis and we should sell. Stop talking so much fucking shit. He's had a few injuries and he's suffered a lack of confidence due to an average run of form (I'm not gonna say awful run of form because some of you lot go on as if he's been completely shit every game for the past year, just like with Elano it's simply not true.

Anyone who wants to sell him is a fool and I don't give a shit if it's just an opinion.

I agree with you. I'm 100% positive that should Robinho hit a poor run of form he'll be described as 'shit' and the club encouraged to sell by 'fans' who know best.

The injuries are probably are what are affecting his play. Whenever a person has surgery they don't always return to the same level as before. He looks alright to me. Probably needs another defender a long side to guide him, at this stage in his career.

i've been saying the same thing all season...definitely 2 stones overweight and 1 yard slower!
typical fergal.....now he's got his 5 year contract?

I bet he's laughing his head off if hes sat here now reading this... The guy hasn't an ounce of fat on him yet people on here believe he's put 2 stone of muscle on over the summer!? The mind really does boggle at times.

He seems agressive and really not the player he was last season too. I don't want to say that Hughes is to blame, but I got the impression that SGE had a very good relationship with Micah and was able to get the best out of him on the pitch. He does seem to be the kind that is at the gym all the time, but personally I believe the core of him not being as good as last season is SGE leaving.

He is definitely slower than he was, it can only be the weights.

physiologically that makes no sense. however, in practical terms, if he is spending more time in the weight room instead of training that would improve his speed and agility, then yeah his speed and agility would suffer as a result of his weight training.

I agree totally with this post. Micah has bulked up enormously and this will result in him getting slightly slower. However, his reading of the game also makes him look a poor defender right now - I am sure the coaching staff are aware and trying to address it but it is very concerning how his form has dipped.

Rubbish. You say he seems aggressive this season oppossed to last? Do you not remember the Fulham game when he was literally foaming at the mouth in anger? He hasnt been overly aggressive once this season. How well do you know him to say he is the kind to be in the gym all the time? Shite post.
