All this man had to do was throw his head back and raise his voice by a few octaves to get a few more gigs on the main channels.

I understand you, but it is a shame you know, because, blue notwithstanding, he is actually one of the most articulate and illuminating commentators on the game out there. He would raise post-match analysis on something like MOTD by levels.

Far better on motd than anything else.
He also makes decent viewing with Linaker and Shearer in their top 10 segments.
Understand how his laugh would annoy folk though.
