Micah Richards the pundit

Shearer tips Henderson for Player of the Year "Because of the way he has lead Liverpool to the title".
VK did that twice running and got nothing! Same way as David & Sergio have constantly been overlooked.

The worst part about that was when Richard's pipes up and says he agrees with the reasoning and then says it should go to mane!! Dont worry micah your bias isnt showing as your nothing more than a stooge!

To be fair to Micah, this season I would give POTY to Mane who has been outstanding though it grates to say it because, as well as playing for the Dippers, Mane can be an arse at times. It's a disgrace that KDB, Merlin and Sergio haven't won the top individual award in past seasons but sadly I agree with Micah about Mane this year.

Each to their own but I think most neutrals have argued it's KDB. Most goal contributions, most chances created, most assists potentially record breaking. Mane has been fantastic but I think Salah is still the better player.

My issue with Richards is when he said 'it has to be a Liverpool player'. Instead of calling out the double standard, Micah continued the narrative himself. It's totally fine if you think Mane has been the best player this season but say that, not just because it has to be a Liverpool player and he wins it by default. It's the reason why our players feel underappreciated in these awards because of how the goalposts suddenly change to go against us.

You make a fair point but I think Micah is feeling his way into the role a bit and he must feel very much the junior at times. It would have been ideal for him to have pointed out the lack of individual honours for our players in years where we have dominated but in the moment he didn't. Let's not be too hard on him like some on here.

Liked him at first but just comes across as too jokey. In danger of becoming a parody figure. Not offered much insight and rolled out plenty of clichés. Dispointed.

Yeah I get that and he genuinely brightens the mood when he comes on. Personally, I don't have much of an issue with him on TV anyways, people point out that he's not the best in terms of analysis but who on TV actually is? Potentially only Neville tries to offer genuine insight and nuance to football discussions, outside of that it's just dire viewing.

I don't think Micah is going to raise the bar in terms of analysis. Good to have an ex-City player around still. Hopefully he nails the role and starts bigging City up more!

Clearly a dipper.

Don't see what's wrong with Micah giving his opinion tbh.
Is it his opinion though?? Hes supposedly a City fan yet he doesnt think it should go to De Bruyne who's head and shoulders above every player in the league this season? Mane has been a good player and an absolute pest to teams, but he doesnt run games. He has sports where hes very good. I begrudgingly accepted salah when he won it because his stats were phenomenal, but the argument that it should go to a player who won the league diesnt stand up because of how many times it *should* have gone to us.

Well it's all about opinions and you have yours, Micah has his. Yes I do believe it's his.
I'd go with Mane as well probably.
For me it's not a massive deal. Furloughpool have been phenomenal this season, no escaping that, no matter how much I don't like it. :)

I’m actually baffled by the negativity regarding our Micah on here, he’s not a breath of fresh air, he’s a howling fuckin Blue hurricane as far as I’m concerned. He says what he sees like a true fan but coupled with his inside knowledge of the game and playing consistently at the highest level, it’s great to listen to. I love listening to him as opposed to the sanctimonious twerps we have been subjected to since the PL began... Long may he reign I say, you miserable twats disrespecting him and falsely calling him out for being inept are clueless ....

He needs to keep laughing too, I’m sick of listening to miserable, dour bores talking shite on tv and on here....

Afuckinmen to that

Then what is your 'issue'?
Clearly invited back for reasons beyond football, I will make that statement.

WOW Stonerblue what a kiss arse you are.

Football career - he got seen off by Zaba never to be seen again.
Newspaper column - more like a few articles here and there.
Job at the BBC, I think that he is being use more in the current climate rather than his football knowledge.

Why don't you just come out and say it's because he's black, as both your posts seem to suggest. Or is it because he's a lesbian?

No issue with his colour at all so don’t go there.

If stating the truth and standing up against the other typical fans is not the norm on here

Then what is your 'issue'?

Be careful you will upset the regiment on here

I mean you literally said you thought he was invited back on for reasons other than football. So what are those reasons in your view?

As someone who's only 22, I grew up with a poster of Micah Richards from like 2007 on my wall. Others as well joined later, but I've always loved Micah cause he was a young lad who loved the club just like me and played for them, just like I wanted to.

Not being a grey haired oldie, he brings a different perspective, he's played in the modern era and understands it better than Lineker and Shearer, or even Jenas who is genuinely pointless. He's a proper breath of fresh air who doesn't take himself too seriously and always has that rascal smile like he did every second he was wearing a City shirt on the pitch. He genuinely adores this club, and if you think it's all just a show, then I doubt you're really worth being called a fan at all.

And for what it's worth, you don't get 'invited on', he's signed a deal with BBC, with Sky to offer punditry on City games. Maybe if Joe Hart doesn't get another club he'll sign one too - will he be invited back for 'reasons other than football'? No. Now just admit what you meant and own your mistake. Maybe an apology wouldn't go amiss too.

It’s pretty obvious what he meant. That’s his opinion and everyone should be entitled to them.

There's having opinions that you're entitled to and crossing a line that football has been trying to cut out.
