Micah Richards

The problem Richards has is Fiorentina play a 3-5-2; being a good attacking fullback doesn't mean you can play wingback, as Luke Shaw has discovered at United, in the same way technically accomplished defenders sometimes look out of their depth in midfield.

His issue was not being given enough time to get himself match fit last season; despite Pellegrini lying about their injury status, Rodwell and Richards were inactive last season purely down to a lack of interest in reintegrating them, and have both struggled to rediscover their rhythm at their new clubs. It's a shame because Richards had no qualms about playing as Zabaleta's understudy as long as he was given reasonable game time. Instead he wasn't, Zabaleta is burnt out, and the guy we got to replace him is only here for the money.

Both of our leftbacks are mediocre, and one of Zaba's finest displays in our shirt came on the left against Arsenal a few years back, so we could have brought Micah in for certain games with Pablo on the other side. Instead we signed the epitome of a mercenary, a guy who'd rather spend the final few years of his career sat behind the best right back in Europe for a pay rise than be first choice at a very good club in Arsenal, not to mention the loss of a vital HG player.

Ideally we'd extend Micah's contract on the condition that he'll be loaned out until the blatantly anti-Anglo Pellegrini leaves, with a view to a chance to impress our next manager. He loves the club, and when fit was a real as
set to us. Sadly, that won't be the case, but luckily Maffeo looks like he will become a very good understudy and eventual successor to Zab.

most of the squad are here for the money,it depends on how you play and apply the effort to see if you earn it.over a season i would take zabba over sagna ,however zabbas form has severely dipped this year ,maybe knackered with a world cup extended season.sagna to be fair to him hasn't thrown his toys out of his pram and whilst has played average at best in a few games , has also had a couple of decent games for us.Im sure like clichy you would see a far better full back with a run of games. You could have the same argument with all of our defenders who clearly haven't benefited from an unsettled back four.Richards on the other hand has been shit for a couple of seasons ,contributed partly by injuries granted .if dzeko, sagna and clichy etc had performed like that over a couple of seasons bellends like you would of hounded them out of the club.whilst i would love to see more english players in our side ,there are only a couple with the talent to enhance us and richards isn't one of them

When Zabaleta was Micah's age he was riding bench as his understudy; to say he has no hope of returning to the levels of the 2011/12 season is naive, he just needs the right environment to do so. I hope Liverpool get hold of him in the summer and rejuvenate him in the same manner they did with Sturridge.

Funny that British players were good enough for Ferguson when dominating English football, while also making an impact in Europe for 20 years.

It's amusing that the ignorant on here declare that British players aren't good enough for us while we've accommodated expensive imported mediocrity like Kolarov, Garcia, Navas, Negredo, Fernando and Jovetic in the past few seasons.

Rodwell nor Richards were given a fair chance to last season; shame, because Rodwell put in more accomplished performances in his first season with us than Fernando has, yet people refuse to acknowledge that as part of the misinformed 'British players aren't good enough' cult, while insisting Fernando will 'come good' just like another obscure Brazilian signed from Porto never did across the city.

Lol Rodwell was a fuckin disaster and made Fernando look like Gatuso. As for Micah, only you and Stevie Wonder think he would ever become a regular in that team again !

There are no signs Richards is getting his career back on track and City will regret letting the player go.

I love the militant UKIP members of the forum, they should post more often. Out of interest, when did Micah last have a good game? I think it might genuinely be about 3 years ago

It the Charity Shield is counting, then the playing for three teams a season rule may not help the transfer

The Charity shield shouldn't be classed as an official game. You can make more subs for a start.

According to another poster elsewhere the Charity Shield is counted as a last seasons game anyway.
