Can't see a thread on this, but time's running out in the transfer window, there ain't that many decent centre halves likely to be available at such short notice, and we are still an injury to Kompers away from the doomsday prospect of Stefan Savic. Even given his serious injury last season, surely Dawson is a steal at £9m. Certainly all the Spurs fans I know are gutted that the club are trying to sell him. What is he? 27? 28? Surely worth a punt, even it does mean dealing with Levy again.....

UTTER LUNACY.............................les dawson had more chance of staying fit - but i'll admit, this thread was pure comedy.

Sigh....and your alternative suggestion to this England international, and captain of Spurs until AVB came along, is?

We passed on Cahill yet we should sign Dawson?

We should keep clear!

I posted about this last night, I think we would be stupid not to sign him for anything under 10 million. People saying he is not good are deluded he was a key reason spurs made the champions league a few seasons ago and is also more of a natural leader than Lescott. There are also not that many better center backs available at the moment especially without getting quoted 20 mil so i think the club really should consider a bid.

How do you work out that people are deluded. Transfer fee is irrelevant as he he will cost in wages. No such thing as a bargain player unless they're on a free.

Cahill is better and we passed, why buy Dawson.

Cahill is on a much higher wage at Chelsea than Dawson is at spurs and if we sign Dawson he would be on signifacantly less than Kolo is on. So replacing Kolo with Dawson seems like a good deal to me.

Cahill is a far better player and was signed for a smaller fee though, Dawson gets injured far too often.

Kolo should go I agree but not before Savic.

Because we have a clear need for a centre half at this moment in time, and given that those other players putatively available (eg Agger) would cost ridiculous money, Dawson would seem like a reasonably priced and reasonably authoratative alternative. Perhaps we should have gone for Cahill, but the fact is we didn't and we are now 6 days away from having no cover for Vinny bar the hapless Stefan Savic (cos Bobby clearly ain't looking to play Kolo)

it,s a f***ing TRANSFER forum- not a pluck a name from the sky forum- what is wrong with you- is there any substance to your suggestion-NO!!!!!!- WE COULD ALL PICK A PLAYER AND SLING HIM ON HERE-PLEASE STOP!!!!!!

[Big sigh then head in hands] Given that the only player we've signed this summer is Jack Rodwell then are you saying that all threads not about Jack Rodwell should be booted from the transfer forum? Or have they got to be trumpeted by an ITK or appear in the Daily Mai
l's gossip column before they're considered worthy? Idiot

transfer threads with some kind of legs to them- not just childish speculation- you are an adult i take it.....

He is and he probably knows his footballing onions better than you. Anyhow this is a forum for discussion and given that Dawson is clearly available and we need a centre back, it's fair enough to raise the point. Dawson is a far more realistic target than, say, David Villa or Pique! I'd go for Coloccini ahead of Dawson, who I'm not a big admirer of. Indeed, I could come up with a whole list CB's I'd rather have but they'd be less realistic targets. I would rather have Dawson as a back-up than Savic though.

If we are looking at England CB's, just to narrow the field of discussion, I'd go for Jagielka ahead of Dawson but Everton almost certainly would not sell him to us (at a sensible price) at this point in the window; plus he might not want to warm our bench. He does though seem to play well with Lescott so would be good cover for VK; he's also be good option in a three man back line with VK and JL.

Agger, Collocini, Javi and our own Kolo Toure (even though I dont particularly rate him either) and I think Rodwell will, in time, fit that role perfectly.........................enough suggestions?
ps CAHILL is better than Dawson too - and I wanted us to buy him............
