Michael Johnson

Now i dont wanna piss on anyones fire here. The lad obviously has some fitness issues and doesnt help himself by styling his rehab on the freddie flintoff diet.
Also he has technically been out since as mentioned december 2007. I was remembering the other day after Fowler never got back to what he was after his injury in 1997 i think it was he was out for over a year and loss something during that time. I would also apply it to Shearer when he blew his knee out, now i know he came back and did well but you never play the way he did before when he was just an unstoppable machine.
What i am getting at is that he may have been out of football too long to ever be the player he once was or reach the heights he could of before the injury

Hopefully he is young enough to recover fully {unlike Shearer and Fowler [who, according to my scouse mate, had a bit of a problem with the columbian marching powder, as does Deggen]which won't help you get better..........or decide when to shoot as it makes you paranoid} and unless you have seen him out on the town on the Freddie Flintoff diet (which I haven't), don't assume that is what is holding him back.

If I recall correctly he was scheduled to be fit mid to late October which may be why he was in the UEFA league squad so he could get a few games under his belt before the January window when we have to name a new 25.

IMO, fully fit, he would walk into the squad.

With this i wasnt completly referring to the fact people say he has a drink problem i was more going for the fact that he put on about 3 stone in weight rather than taking care of himself

Unfortunately, I think you may be right. I've not read all 3 pages, so I'm sure someone has mentioned it already, but he might just be another Paul Lake. All the ability and a fantastic career ahead of him, but career tragically cut short due to an injury/injuries. Christ, it's happened to us a few times.

when you say he would walk into the squad,at whose expense do you reckon?
i mean, who would you leave out for him?

Cant see him being fit before Janauary, we have space in the 25 man squad so he may as well be included anyway. Hes not played for 2 seasons, needs to go out on loan really to get his fitness and form back.

Officially, October. I'd be surprised if he got into the first team any time before Xmas.
No chance he is going to be included in the 25 man squad so a loan to another club in the new year is the most likely option, let some other team put him in there squad and see if he can keep fit then take him back for next years pre-season and asses his situation then

Indeed!
