Michael Johnson

Don't think he's playing much! Clayton at Leeds is banging them in tho!
Leeds have been on Sky three times and he's been MOTM in each one.

Clayton was sold (undisclosed fee) so I'd hope we put a nice sell-on clause in his transfer as he's going to fetch a few million when a PL club signs him soon. We produce so many talented young players but the level we're at now is so high that probably 5-10% only have any realistic chance of breaking through. Clayton would have been in our first team squad as recently as 2007.

I can see Wolves or someone coming in for Clayton and them paying £5m. He is a type of Jamie O'Hara player.

Think this is how it will be from now on, many youth players won'ever play for us but be sold for a million here or there. Essentially what has been happening at United for years.

As for Johnson, I think come the end of the season unless he has improved measurably and can show he can sustain the rigours it would be best to let him move and continue to get games and build his fitness. He won't get them with us unless he is one of the best in the league. That's the reality now.

Give up on him - I don't undertand the obsession. A handful of good games for us and nearly three years injured. He can't even get into Leicesters team on a regular basis - if it's injury that'll be the fourth season out of five that he's been limited because of it, if that's the case I'd say he should give up!

what a shame to see such talent in a player going to waste, he's had so much time on the sidelines to finally get fit!!!!!!.....you just wonder whats going on inside his head, and wether or not he's going to be ever injury free....I really cant see it happening, but would love to be proved wrong here and see Michael Johnson finally come good.......

Has he even played at all?

He's played 4 times for them and is becoming more and more involved.

Not sure what people expected, him to go out there and play every game immediately? Sven has been doing a grand job of easing him in but Sven is gone now so who knows...

He is getting more involved than our other injury ravaged player making a gradual comeback, Hargreaves, who has managed just two games so far.

My point is not that he won't play football again. I was just commenting that I didn't think it was likely he would play for us again. I still do not.

Who would he replace? You may say "but in two or three years Barry or Yaya may go." I would respond "so you are asserting that he will supplant de Jong, Milner, or Razak when he is 26?" Our really whomever we have brought up through the ranks or purchased during that time? I just do not see how he would make it into the squad at this point.

I wish him all the best, though--I of all people know what a bad injury (and setbacks) can do to your playing career.

I'd be very surprised if he fulfils all that potential he had after all his problems, but I hope he does.

He was the real deal three years ago, an England international in the making. Out of all our academy
Products, he and micah were the two
I believed had the most potential .

Good luck to the lad

+ 1

I was watching the match on YouTube that he played in a while ago I think it was against Derby, and how he just tore up the middle of the park, received the ball and with the outside of his foot curled the the ball into the back of the Derby goal truly an amazing goal that night.....and why I really want to see him prove me wrong and get back to full fitness.........

I wont give up on him. Not yet. Let's see how he's doing after a full year with Leicester and maybe even a summer work-out with us.

Quality goal, a Yaya-esque burst through the middle
