Michael Oliver

At times yesterday he looked like a rabbit in the headlights, ridiculous.

Aguero was a blatant penalty, they should have had yellows for numerous tackles/dives, we should have had a few more and Yaya should have been sent off.

In all, he had a terrible game.

I know people will say it's corruption again, but this is clearly incompetence. For both sides there were questionable decisions, probably more so for us of course, but this guy is just a shit ref.
He looks like he has no backbone and he refs like he has no backbone, spineless little incompetent rat.

The worst one was the Lucas studs first challenge on Aguero. As soon as I saw that I knew what the game would be like.

I think clyne had fouled Sterling three times before that without getting a card. The man's a pussy, won't give a red card if his life depended on it.
Lucas should have been sent straight off for that two footed studs up lunge on Sergio.

He's not the worst referee.

He just seems scared at making big game changing decisions in case he gets it wrong. It's much easier to face the consequences of not giving a penalty than a wrongly awarded one.

That said he's a stark contrast to that twat Clattenburg who loves the limelight. So much so that he makes up his own rules.

To be fair Vinnie got away with 3 challenges , fouls given before he was finally carded

It would have been a very good refereeing performance had he given the penalty on Sergio.

Unfortunately, the one thing you ask of a referee is to get the big decisions right by showing a bit of bottle, and he buckled under the pressure.

Having said that, he let the game flow reasonably well and dealt with the Yaya/Lallana situation relatively well, I think Yaya could have been sent off by another ref

While I do think he's a weak ref, there is no rule about how many fouls bring a yellow card, no matter how much some pundits/commentators think.

He'd have had to send them both off lala got right in Yaya's face at the start of the incident so bookings kept the balance, he choice of non-decision on the penalty was a disgrace and could have cost us.

It was obvious to anyone in the ground that it was a pen. It wasn't til today, that I realised how close he was to it! I would love to hear his excuse

I think this is a huge issue. There is far too much secrecy surrounding PGMO. As fans - or paying customers if you like - we should be able to see the reasoning behind the decisions the refs make, especially match changing ones like the Spurs pen and the Liverpool non-pen. The effect these decisions have are too important to be ignored or left to the media to decide what is up for discussion. We seem to have suffered more than most from dodgy decisions but I'd guess fans from all other clubs would say the same.

I'm not sure interviewing refs immediately after the game is necessarily the right way to go but we should at least be able to see the reports of the ref and their assessor. Maybe lock them both in seperate rooms with a pen and paper and make the reports available within an hour of the final whistle.

It beggars belief that in a sport so awash with money that the (at best) incompetence (at worst) crookedness of the officials can skew the competition so much. The complete lack of transparency, and arrogance of PGMO in looking after their own gives off a bit of a stink.

Don't think he would have removed his shirt and gone in the crowd if he had been booked earlier for diving
Isn't the game over when Yaya scores the penalty? Lots of players take off their shirts after the final whistle in the post match celebrations.
