The word on the streets up here in the toon is that Owen will sign for Everton for £4m - already a done deal apparently (just like we have Kaka and Villa!).

Owen and Heskey for me the way Hughes like to play his football at the moment.(but just been on sky sports thev'e offered owen a new contract.

The way Hughes has them playing at the moment we would be better suited to Crouch and Jan Koller up front, supported by Big Chris Samba in the hole

I'd be very surprised if he does unless they are paying him something huge in the way of wages. Last I heard the barcodes wanted him to take a pay drop.
There's a lot of Premiership teams who would pay good wages to get him on a free, his injury problems seem to have subsided and he is a clinical finisher. If he had a long contract left I would have expected him to go for £12m (he's still only 28?) and then they'd have his wages on top. Guarantee him his normal wages and throw in an extra £4-5m over 3 years and he'd be far better off than if he re-signed at Newcastle.
