Manchester United striker Michael Owen has tweeted the reasons for their thumping by Manchester City yesterday.

Owen is adamant if it was 11 v 11 the result would have been different.

He began: "Understand the general feeling from the fans but even though the result was bad, there are reasons why.

"1. We haven't been in top form lately. If we had played them earlier on in the season (charity shield) it may of been a different result.

"2. Even though Man City were very good, we would never of conceded 6 with 11 men.

"3. Easy to accept defeat and limit the damage. That's not in our DNA. Playing in front of 75,000 fans at home. We have to attack to the end."

What a load of old shite he sounds like hes been at the Rags for years with his load of Fergiescum style excuses.

This is like something from a 12 year old.

The sending off could have been a pen or a goal if Evans
had not foiled Balo so thats 2-0 .

Piers Morgan to Michael Owen

"@themichaelowen Not the best of days for any United player to be calling people 'clueless', Benchwarmer. #SixInTheCity"

ouch

He's got issues. He knows he shouldn't be sat on the bench every week but often tries to justify it because he's so insecure about it.

So he's admitting in number 3 that they are clueless one-trick headless chickens who have no tactical nous or awareness of the bigger picture.

Leaving their centre-backs so exposed in the final minutes in a game where essentially goal difference counted for double was one of the most naive tactical decisions I have ever witnessed in the professional game. Not exagerating. It's up there with that guy from Zaire who kicked the ball away during a free kick in the '74 World Cup haha

Dismantling them so comprehensively was glorious but making Ferguson look utterly clueless was the cherry on top.
Imagine if the roles were reversed. Bobby would have been doing his absolute nut in, physically dragging his full-backs back if necessary at 4-1 knowing that the game was up and acknowledging the need for damage limitation.
Ferguson meanwhile chewed on a wasp then moaned about his team's naivety in the post-match interview.
You're the boss Ferguson you prick! You had the chance to do something about it but you just glowered in the dugout, hopefully finally coming to the realisation that your team is one-dimensional and completely lacking in any leadership.

Talking of on-the-pitch leadership can you also imagine Vinnie standing for that? He'd be hauling his team-mates back into shape.
Ferdinand allowed them to completely disintegrate. To think he was once captain of England *shudders*
