Michael Robinson RIP

The 79-80 derby was my first too and I used to sit the in Platt Lane and can remember thinking that his shot was going wide all the way, until it went in and everyone went mental.

This thread is a lovely little tribute (especially the Souness words - top bloke) to someone, who seemed like a decent guy and his stay at City (and in the world) was too short.

RIP Michael

When Big Mal ripped apart the team he was one of the main players that was illustrated to Big Mal's folly in doing so(having spent by then a huge amount on a player who had never played in the top tier, I would guess that £750,000 was the most Preston received for a player for a VERY long time). The fact that very quickly and as his career progressed after leaving City that connection was no longer made shows that he was a pretty good player RIP....

I bet it was the most that Preston got until we bought Jon Macken from them for an overpriced £5M

I was in a pub in London with Tony Book and the team before his first game at Palace. I asked Tony whether City had signed Mickey Robinson knowing he'd fractured his skull on the crossbar in his last game for Preston. He told me shut the F**** up - there were press about!!!

Sad news indeed. Like many on here, his goal in the derby is forever burned into my memory. To a watching 15 year old, high up in the kippax on the half way line, it seemed to take an eternity to go in as it went past baileys despairing dive. Pandemonium ensued..

Another great memory from that season was deyna’s winner against European champions Forest, following a cross by Robinson.

Thanks for those golden memories Michael, you were always a city legend to this young boys eyes. RIP
