Middle East Conflict | Netanyahu orders strikes on Gaza (p1161)

Whilst I totally disagree with what Israel are doing.... a way to stop it is for Hamas to release the hostages.

So the question is: what would be the impact of Hamas releasing the hostages? I think it would give them the upper hand in the negotiations wouldn't it?

I just wish they'd release them then the rest of the world could pressure Israel to stop the bombing. Until they are released I'm afraid it's highly likely Israel will persist.

So Hamas, protect your people and release the hostages that you really had no right to take in the first place.

And when Hamas have no bargaining power as they have released all the hostages..... what then ?
I'll answer that, they will be subjected to more violence, starvation, genocide.

Israel don't care about hostages, they just want the complete removal of 'arabs'.
In this country you can be arrested for saying the slogan 'From the river to the sea' but absolutely no action is taken against anyone praising Israels actions.

The Conservatives when in power and now Labour are a disgrace. Their compete lack of condemnation (Lamey has been rebuked for what he said) is a stain on this country.

Innocent children are being murdered and no one does anything.

I genuinely don't know. Perhaps you could give an opinion?

All I believe is that the hostages are innocent civilians that should not continue to be held. Regardless of the actions of the Israeli military and government, the hostages are innocent people and quite frankly anyone that feels there is justification for holding them needs to step back and think through the unfortunate consequences which we are already witnessing today.

What if these were innocent British civilians kidnapped by a lesser armed state? Would we expect the British military to get involved?

The Palestinians poked the bear too hard and are now realising the consequences. Definitely a case of them starting this particular skirmish so they should (because they can) finish it.

It really is their call, if they choose not to then don't complain when the Israelies continue to bomard them... because they can.

First, it is wrong for anybody to hold hostages.
Second 3 (I think) were British.
With regards 'poking the bear'. I will simply reply that one man's terrorist is another man's freedom fighter. How long does it take before someone says enough and takes up arms ?

No matter how many terrorists/freedom fighters there are, killing innocent civilians especially children is not acceptable. It is murder.
Starving innocent people, forcibly moving them, raping and beating them, stealing their land, their houses, subjagating them simply means you will turn innocent people into freedom fighters/terrorists.

I don't disagree with this thought except to say that the rest of the world would react in a negative way which would get them to pressurise Israel to stop.

You're not supporting the continued kidnap and holding of the hostages are you?
No.
The rest of the world has said fuck all so far and I doubt that will change.

You have a pipe dream.

Once the last hostage is released, the odds are Gaza will be flattened with no single human left unturned.

Just look at what’s happening now. Fewer hostages mean higher odds of them doing Hannibal directive.

7th October more than 800 cars were flattened like pancakes. Do you think Hamas and their flying chutes brought with them Hellfire missiles? Why did Israel hastenly bury all the flattened cars below ground early November 2023?

Hamas are not absolutely innocent they did the same violent acts of shooting and burning cars. But flattened pancaked cars? 29 IDF choppers were flying simultaneously on that same day.

Hostage exchange must be in agreement of permanent ceasefire AND the non violation of current ceasefire.

During the current ceasefire, Israel already killed more than 100 Gazans before this week, and violated more than 900 clauses for ceasefire.

The whole point of the last ceasefire was so the hostages would be released. After the first phase, Israel tried to change the terms of the ceasefire and cut off aid and electricity to Gaza. Say what you want about Hamas but they stuck to the terms of it. Israel didn't.

This is one of the reasons why.

Ok I’ll add to that.
According to UNHRW report November 2023, between 1 January 2023 and 6 October 2023 (i.e. before 7 October 2023) 200 Palestinians were killed.

Of the 200 killed, 191 were killed by the Israel Security Forces (ISF) and 9 were killed by Israel settlers. Of the 200 killed, 52 were children. These were all prior to 7 October 2023 and ONLY recorded the West Bank, not Gaza.

And no one, no mainstream news, batted an eyelid.

This is one of the reasons why.

Absolutely, all of their ceasefire violations have been recorded
- IDF soldier groups trespassing Gaza at least 3 times
- Israel Full prevention of the 100 mobile homes provided by Egypt and Lebanon and Jordan.
- Detainment of Gazan fishermen
- Aerial vehicles trespassing Gaza at least 39 times
- The sniper shooting of Gazans sporadically
- Israel prevention of 40% of the 2000 tents provided by Egypt and Lebanon and Jordan.
- Eventual full block of humanitarian aid.
The list of violations go on and on.
They just had gritted teeth.

Killing Israelies and taking hostages is/was not the answer though... as we are sadly witnessing right now.

They can keep hold of the hostages and continue to be battered or they can release the hostages and plead to the rest of the world to get Israel to stop.

For me there is only one albeit unbearable, realistic option of stopping their country continuing being slaughtered.

Leaves a horrible taste but, Hamas are unlikely to ever compete militarily with Israel and the rest of the world is hardly rushing to support .... much bigger fish to fry.
