Middle East Conflict | Netanyahu orders strikes on Gaza (p1161)

And you know this how?
This is the result of the bullshit you have been fed through the media. This is the narrative that is used to ensure the hegemony of Israel in the Middle East and therefore the control of oil resources by the USA and the West.
The Iranians are as rational as anybody, probably more so. The fact that they oppose Israel doesn't make them irrational or bad.
Just ask yourself, why Israel, who itself holds illegal undeclared nuclear weapons and has been conducting a genocide, not least by starving a population, has not been condemned by the West for launching an unprovoked war on a country that is declared by the IAEA and the US's own intelligence community to be not conducting a nuclear weapons programme.
This war is to try to change the government of a country, the last country in the region that is prepared to oppose Israeli and Western hegemony.
This is the reason they are being attacked, not because they might be making a nuclear bomb which everyone knows to be bullshit.
This will be bigger than you think.
An increase in terrorism is going to be the least of your worries.
what a load of fucking tosh

Agreed, except I’m sceptical over reports Iran has a stockpile of 60% enriched uranium. We’ve seen this show before with Iraq and WMD. We used to have an agreement with Iran which Trump binned. We finally get Iran back at the negotiating table and our response is to…bomb them?

I also figured the opinion of his base would keep him in check. Turns out I was way off. As for Starmer backing the lunatic - I know politics and diplomacy is a dirty game, but have some fucking self-respect.
I find myself in a rare moment of complete agreement with you ;-)

The maddest religious cunts in the world right now, Israel, have nukes and they never use them. Iran having them purely as a deterrent would make for a much more stable Middle East

Instead, we're looking at a potential escalation where hundreds of thousands of civilians could lose their lives

I think the line, "The fact that they oppose Israel", understates it quite a bit! They are ideologically and dogmatically committed to the complete elimation of Israel.

Ho Ho, in the words of mystic guru Clinton Baptiste dont shoot the messenger but thanks partly to US/Uk collaboration up the road at a base in Harrogate many terrorist plots, cells already based here have been thwarted.

Bollocks, they will use it for dirty bombs, they basically sponsor terrorism around the world.

It gets worse Iran meeting with Putins Russia. Trump with his successful lethal attack on Irans nuclear sites, calling on “god” to keep America safe.
The UK needs to call for an urgent ceasefire and stand back from the chaos Trump and Netanyahu are creating "Hell is empty and all the devils are here" tempest Shakespeare

Seen/Heard a statement from Iran saying that there is no danger from the attacks.
Bit of a bind. Say the damage was bad and they have to retaliate. Say it was negligible so we won't retaliate and Trump decides the BOMBS weren't a spectacular success and uses MORE BOMBS.

I can't quite get over the stupidity that was Trump pulling out of the original Iran nuclear deal. A deal co-signed by all members of the security council, including Russia (when have we ever seen that achieved?) - it had the potential to guarantee Iran wasn't capable of enriching uranium, would be closely monitored, but also would be more dependent on international allies and so have "more to lose". Trump pulled out of it, not because it was a bad deal, but because it was Obama's deal. Absolutely infuriating egotistical nonsense.

Trump pulls out, they start enriching uranium, and now he's bombing them for doing what we all knew they would do and risking pulling us all into WW3. The guy is a fucking moron. As if anybody needed any more reasons to detest him.

You could say the same about the US to be fair.

And the Israeli government.

All sides are as bad as each other with these ridiculous beliefs.
I do draw a distinction, although it’s arguably marginal. Firstly, I don’t believe Trump is motivated by what it says in a book written centuries ago, and nor do I believe Netanyahu does, whereas I believe the decision makers in Iran are guided by religious dogma.

I’m not saying it’s necessarily any more reprehensible, but it cannot be said to be rational to base the use of a nuclear weapon based on interpretation of an ancient book. To me, that is the apotheosis of irrationality.

That said, I’m not sure Trump is operating in the realms of rationality either, but for very different reasons.

I’m with you on this. I’d really hoped the US didn’t do this and was heartened when Scaramucci said only 2 days ago that Trump only does what MAGA want and they are dead set against it.

But - and it is a big but - if the reports that Iran has a stockpile of 60% enriched Uranium, there is no civilian use for such material. Enriching to 60% is only for weapons use, and I agree with you that Iran having a nuclear bomb would be unthinkable.

I can’t help thinking though that a diplomatic solution would have been far, far better. I am not even sure the US have destroyed Iran’s bomb-making capabilities. The facilities were apparently deep underground and those big ground penetrating bombs the US dropped, only penetrate so far.
Once its penetrated in 200ft and 2 ton of explosives gone off I doubt there's much of the complex left, think the Yanks are pretty certain they won't need to go back.
