He wasn't misquoted. But it was only one bit of his remarks. It's possible that the Irish government's twitter account just used the first paragraph. The thread suggests the Israeli Minister was misquoted. I don’t know if that’s the case:
Take your ball and go home then.Thanks. I don’t believe debating with you on this issue is a worthwhile experience.
I asked a question about your random capitalisation of words in a lot of your posts and you answered.
I know now you want to be a tabloid journalist. Thanks.
I’m aware. ‘Twas all levity based on asymmetrical battles, but feels everything turns into an argument these days.Nope ... but there were plenty before and after Capone ..... which was the point. Also they preferred the term 'outfit' to 'mafia' .... don't be disrespecting else you might end up sleeping with the fishes :)
Think you’ve muddled terrorists with states!Terrorists gonna inflict terror.
States gonna protect themselves.
Yes, round and round, until….?
No, it means you don’t poke the bear, because a bear swipe can kill you!Ah OK.
That's alright then. Carry on slaughtering.
Well, that's fine, except for what "began the whole thing". I watched three hours of the series "Israel and the Arabs - Elusive Peace" till the early hours (a follow up to the earlier series on what then was "the fifty years war") and October 7th was a continuation not a start. The failure of all the "road maps" to peace 25 years ago is just depressing. No, it means you don’t poke the bear, because a bear swipe can kill you!
The point of overwhelming military force is meant to be a deterrent. If a terrorist force attempts to undermine or ignore that deterrent, they do so with the understanding it will probably be brought to bear.
Everyone understands this, and I’m not sure anyone expected zero response.
Given the pretext, the question then becomes “How much is too much?” Reasonable people can differ on the answer to that question.
It feels like the return of all hostages would be a reasonable precursor to cessation, even if it is 3:1 ratio. Then, what of the murders that began the whole thing? Has that been answered? Again, reasonable people might differ.
The biggest problem in all of this is the damage being done to otherwise innocent Palestinians. Again, how many of those exist is a question open to interpretation.
No easy answers, otherwise we would all have not only heard of them repeatedly, but we would have all agreed on them.
And so it goes…
