Middle East Conflict

Especially when he completely contradicts himself on the Ukraine war.
He wouldn't be alone in that to be fair. It's an accusation you could make against an overwhelming majority of Western politicians. Unequivocal on what constitutes war crimes in one case but not the other, i.e. targeting of civilians and infrastructure. There is plenty of footage where they spell it out and they have backed it up with arrest warrants (hot air or not) and punitive sanctions. The clips from the select committee kind of prove the point .... lots of squirming.

Yep getting fed up of it myself, they know Israel have well over stepped the mark putting it lightly. But the politicians cannot be seen to be calling it out and have to stay on script.

Good point.

China and Russia.

You are right, the world has come to a pretty pass when China and Russia have the moral high ground on any issue. Fucking embarrassing, really. It's as if the west actually wants them to gain influence in the world.

One thing that surprises me is that China wants the world situation to be in a multipolar world, so China wants Europe to gain strategic autonomy. However, many Europeans, on the one hand, are dismayed at China's influence, and on the other hand, they oppose Europe's gaining strategic autonomy. This is puzzling. I mean, if Europeans are uneasy about China's influence, then Europe should try to gain influence itself, but they prefer to continue relying on the United States. If Europe chooses to continue relying on the United States, then it is obvious that countries in other parts of the world will inevitably seek self-protection.

Not really the thread for it, but I will give it a quick go.

Europe isn't ready yet for any sort of autonomy from the US, politically, socially or economically. Until it is, it clearly makes sense to "hide behind" the US. I suspect the US will gradually lose interest in Europe as they will have bigger issues to deal with soon and so, at some point in the not-too-distant future this autonomy will have to happen. Especially if Russia keeps up its aggressive posture. That's for the future, though. As of now, Europe still needs the US which is why you see subservience to their policies.

Personally, I am interested to see how BRICS+ works, who joins and what sort of alternative it will pose to the western view of the world in the next decade or so.
