Middle East Conflict

It shouldn’t encourage reprisals at all. most Jewish people have f all to do with this. If Jewish people are being attacked that’s blatant anti semitism and just stupid. Same the other way round.
I agree and I hope that we don't see more hate crimes.

I think our politicians have a responsibility too. A number of our leading politicians have made it clear that they don't value Palestinian lives. Starmer and others have really shown themselves up.

Vast majority of everyone that has ever lived have led peaceful lives and tried to do nothing but good with their lives.

What mankind has achieved is nothing short of miraculous In terms of technology and medicine etc.

Yes, war is horrible and it allows the worst of us to be seen but to suggest we are the worst species to have ever lived is just wrong imo.

Wasps are utter cunts, snakes not much better.
Personally always thought cockroaches were proof God didn't exist.

I don’t claim to have read everything in here, but my impression has been that condemnation has been of Israel or the Israeli government and Hamas. Not Jewish people or Palestinians.

There has also been condemnation of posters who like football tribalism, refuse to criticise their side.

I have no time for any religious ethos, Catholic/Protestant, Christian Judaism, Islam or any other fantasy that people allow dictate state policy or let’s supersede internationally recognised protocols and agreements.

We in Ireland have had our own history of church leading state and gladly I believe we have rejected that and are all the better for it and hopefully will see the North’s youth drop this element that is holding back progress too.

We need to own our own mistakes of the past and hopefully learn from them and from others who have been through similar.

I said earlier that most people know what’s right even when they are defending the indefensible. Justice for all citizens should be to the fore of government policy and we as citizens should know what is moral and hold our governments to account if we know they are doing wrong in our name.

You’re absolutely right, the guilty are Hamas and the Israeli government, completely agree

Have never suggested otherwise, or suggested reasons at all, merely pointed out the facts.

The reasons leave plenty of room for discussion, and you may not like all the answers, but that wasn’t the focus of my posts, which were to provide facts after seeing what appeared to be slanted coverage based on ideological grounds in the media.
Nothing wrong with pointing out facts. But those facts led you to believe that the coverage of the conflict is slanted in europe.

It is only logical that you'd see the coverage is slanted. If muslim population has increased in UK/Europe, that there is every chance that a lot of UK/Europe population will have Muslim neighbours or friends or colleagues. And they'd see those neighbours, friends or colleagues are peaceful hardworking people (exceptions notwithstanding). And when they see those people being targeted, they'd feel sympathy for them.

Not only that, it is entirely possible that people in UK/Europe have a higher moral compass than americans and they'd feel sympathy for those suffering injustices.

It is also entirely possible that UK/Europe has seen many more wars on their lands than US so events like this feel closer to home and they have more sympathy for the oppressed.

Perhaps those are the reasons you feel the coverage is slanted but if I were being rational, I'd say your view may be slanted being so far away from the conflict.

As far as the room for discussion or me not liking answers, that may well be the case however I don't post much on social media so I doubt i would engage in any length discussion anyway.
