Middle East Conflict

And still the bombs rain down on Gaza, not a pause in respect of last nights tragedy, just carry on like nothing had happened, I am afraid to say if this escalates it’s on America, they have the opportunity to say enough is enough, I have no doubt this situation is exactly the situation Hamas and Iran want and expected, and they obliged

They’ve bombed 19 hospitals in the last few days and a school yesterday

Doesn’t take a, pardon the pun, rocket scientist to work out who’s to blame here.

A game changer in many ways due to the sheer barbarity so they’re trying to worm their way out of and their apologists are going to great lengths to blame others
Where did you find the info on the 19 hospitals please mate?

Something similar happened during the Algerian Civil War (in some ways a microcosm of this present horrendous macrocosm).

There was an explosion in the Casbah that killed many civilians living there. The French claimed an FLN ammunition dump had inadvertently exploded. Later it emerged that the pied noirs had planted a bomb.

Robert Fisk, who was present at the aftermath of the Sabra and Chatila massacre, and whose journalism, though it faltered towards the end, was very good at highlighting the utter hypocrisy on all sides in the Palestinian-Israeli conflict, rated Alistair Horne’s A Savage War of Peace (about the Algerian war of independence) as an extraordinary feat of historical writing.

Just thought the book was worth a mention for those who might not have heard of it. Gillo Pontecorvo’s movie is also outstanding*. I used to use scenes from it when teaching the concept of jihad to GCSE students of Islam.

*It’s the only one I know of that was produced by an unrepentant terrorist (Saadi Yacef) and in which he reprises his role as a bomb maker.

I doubt badr-3 would be fired in multiples more than 2. I have seen video evidence from where Al-Quds Brigade firing them in pairs with a slight delay. Probably on a setup similar to an image I attach below.

I wasnt trying to question who or what caused it but mainly just to inform that rockets of that power do exist and have been used against Israel for years. I havent seen a trustworthy source of video to draw any real conclusions, the one I seen earlier appeared to show a rocket intercepted and then an explosion along the same path, but again I cant say if that is even real. Hitting a hospital of all things seems almost too coincidental to happen by accident / misfire.

Two Badr3 rockets at a 2021 Gaza parade:

One about to be intercepted over Israel 5 months ago, the larger rocket at the bottom.

This apparently isnt just Hamas involved, every terrorist/resistance organisation in Gaza took part in this, except apparently Al-Qassam Brigades, this is based on footage uploaded by members of each group during and after that first day attack showing them actively taking part within Israel.

People arnt sure if they planned this together or only joined in once the attack started but either way members from all but one group were seemingly involved within Israel killing and taking hostages.

They would have access to any weapon within Gaza effectively if that is true.
Thanks for your post.

Whether Isreal or Hamas (or some other Palestinian militants) are responsible is presently unclear (although some posters have discernibly already drawn conclusions based on their own perspectives and prejudices) but either way this is exactly why Israel should have been far more cautious when responding to the attacks of ten days or so ago.

It’s inconceivable to me that Hamas launched those brutal and shocking attacks without wanting Israel to respond in the way they have. Full of anger and vengeance. Not thinking straight. Israel never stepped back to ask why that was the case. Never for a second considered whether this could have been a trap.

I’m no military expert, but giving your enemy exactly what they wish for should at least give you pause for thought, especially when modern warfare has shown us that the days of Germany marching into Belgium, the Netherlands, Luxembourg, and France and taking them in six weeks are a relic of warfare.

The response to 9/11 was equally as ill-considered and unleashed forces that could not be contained, which is what Hamas were probably wishing for. They probably figured that provoking Israel had a fighting chance of escalating things to their advantage. Not with any certainty, but with enough prospects of success to take a calculated gamble. Israel were plainly not alive to this.

Israel has an absolute right to defend itself, but as tragic as it was, like 9/11 (and unlike the Russian invasion of Ukraine) the massacre itself did not present a clear and present existential threat to the State of Israel, and any response needed to be cold, calculated, purposeful and considered. It has been none of these things and Israel has now lost control of the situation in a way that Hamas probably dreamed of.

In stating all this, I ask myself are Hamas capable of doing this on purpose to point the finger of blame at Israel (as much as Israel are also capable of being responsible, albeit unintentionally) then the answer is unequivocally ’yes’ but that’s one of the many reasons why Israel needed to apply their force in a more measured and less reactive fashion.

They’ve given Hamas exactly what they wanted imo.
100% spot on.

If Israel steam in to Gazza the Middle East will explode and conflict will spread over most of the world.

We have already seen over recent days indiscriminate terrorist attacks all over the world, just when we thought they were becoming a thing of the past.

Anyone who thinks this hospital explosion is anything but a Hamas false flag operation needs to open their eyes.

Textbook state terrorism operation straight from the Russian playbook.

This whole thing is heartbreaking. There’s thousands of innocent people dying yet again because of a load of fanatical terrorists.

Over the weekend a few Israeli s mentioned a possible hospital strike as it is where Hammas personnel hide during air raids.

Strange with what has been reported through the media.

I just feel sorry for all the innocent people and hope a Peaceful solution comes fast. Its all too tragic and all too familiar....

Israel are adamant they have intercepted conversation and have shared it with the US that it was not then. Reuters saying it will be made public as well.

Does anybody trust Twitter anymore?
Never did much before Musk, even less so now. It’s just random people saying words.

Could be true, a bit true and a bit not or pure fantasy and nobody verifies anything. Especially when it’s proper randomers having their Tweets (or whatever they’re called now) posted.

Could be some bloke from Benchill who’s never been out of Manchester who puts a Middle East sounding name and looking picture as his profile for all we know, yet we’re fooled into thinking it’s a reputable source of information directly coming from the scene.

The same bloke could have a Ukrainian profile he switches between, and another climate change one on the backburner n’all.

To be fair, people close to the Israeli government were claiming responsibility at first
