Have you seen the videos of the slaughtered Israelis?

Stop treating this as some kind of playground fight, empathy should be to all who are suffering, Palestinian children and Israeli children all bleed the same, the mothers all grieve we need far more empathy for the innocent civilians be they Israelis or Palestinians

Ah different rules for the two sides in a war. Get it now. Hamas can do and say what they want, Israel can't.

What exactly cant Israel do that you want them to do?

It's all pretty indicative of the conflict, tbh. Not that I blame people for their emotions in a time of crisis. My response when Argentina invaded the Falklands was that we should have nuked Montevideo. Wiser heads prevailed, luckily for Uruguay. Wiser heads are what is needed in Israel and Palestine now. Not holding out much hope.

I'm not aware of the entire history of the region but I can relate things that have happened in the last month to an incident when I was a kid... We had a hornets nest in the fence at the back of our house in Middleton and I thought it would be a great idea to poke a stick in it... I got very badly stung ,Spent a few days looking like John Merrick (sp)

Bascally that is clearly the opinion of many on here.
Of course they have a point, in that that, as a democracy, Israel should behave as a democracy.
BUT what is Israel to do about the recent mass murder, hostage taking and the continual rocket attacks from Gaza (the latter going back years)?
If the usual suspects could give us a workable solution for that that guarantees Israeli security then maybe they have a point but they can't and seem to accept that Hamas can hide among the Gaza population attacking Israel with the eventual goal of the genocide of all Jews in Israel by Jihad.

BUT what is Israel to do about hostages and the continual rocket attacks from Gaza going back years?
If the usual suspects could give us a workable solution for that that guarantees Israeli security then maybe they have a point but they can't and seem to accept that Hamas can hide among the Gaza population attacking Israel with the eventual goal of the genocide of all Jews in Israel.

Gaza is as you know very densely populated. Hamas militants live there, surrounded by ordinary people. Do you suggest they gather in an open space like a football pitch? Where they could be neatly killed en masse.

Re a workable solution. I have always thought a one state solution should have been pursued from the outset. Obviously an awful lot of bad blood has passed since then.
But in the absence of a better alternative I think moderates on all sides could make it work supported by the political will and financial support of other countries.
I know it sounds incredibly naive but thinking inside the box has got no-one anywhere.

It’s a massive conundrum, like how does an oppressed people fight back against their oppressor?

Sooner or later it’s going to have to stop, either one party will destroy the other, or both parties realise that this getting nowhere and agree to sit down with an honest broker to sort it out

Peace and prosperity in that region has a direct impact on the world

I pretty much agree for the long term but in the short and medium terms it doesn't fly.
Hamas is committed to the extinction of Isreal and the genocide of the Jewish population by Jihad. How are they to be stopped in their goal?

A one state solution would be the way out of it, but then Israel would no longer be a Jewish state, so it’s never mentioned, it’s a more practical solution
