Middle East Conflict

Can I just be controversial here and say there’s absolutely nothing wrong with executing terrorists.

Providing the bar is extremely high for conviction and they’ve had a fair trial etc.

I know being against terrorism is a wild viewpoint to some people in this thread and on the far left.
Well, I suppose a high bar for conviction in a trial before execution is an improvement on just shooting children in the street.

You’d be happy for Mandela to have been executed?
And some of Israel's prime ministers?

It's just my point that you've chosen to attack Israel and single it out as needing saving, but why? I don't agree with the death penalty but if Israel imposed it for terrorists then is that really a problem? I doubt they'll be missed and those terrorists certainly had no problem executing Israelis, they're doing it to this day and people on here stop just short of defending it.

I'd understand your point if Israel chose to for example execute gay people as they do in virtually most of the countries neighbouring Israel but that isn't the case, this is about terrorists. Ironically people on here seem to defend those countries and their right to enact Islamic religious brutality, however with Israel it's just always different isn't it?

This thread is getting pretty boring to be honest, most of it now has nothing to do with the conflict. We may as well just call it the Israel bashing thread. It's getting a bit like the Tory one where people regurgitate endless crap about the Tories and any actual debate to the contrary is shutdown.
Yeah, children being killed must get boring.

Nelson Mandela was undoubtedly classed as a terrorist when he was a leader in the ANC, which was categorised as a terrorist organisation by the South African government as well as the US and UK government.

leaders in officially designated terrorist groups are called...terrorists.

He wasn't convicted of terror offences, but from what I read no one said he was. There are plenty of Hamas leaders in Qatar who are definitely terrorists and haven't been convicted of being a terrorist.

Now Emmeline Pankhurst? She was both a terrorist and convicted for carrying out a terrorist attack.

What was the point of all this anyway?
To show that the terrorism designation is an arbitrary political designation based not on your actions but on your political stance and affiliation.
It's a stick the West uses to beat and tarnish its opponents with.
It doesn't mean a thing.

I meant to post that Israel is saying 1.200 rather than 1,400 of its citizens were killed on 7 October. RIP.

The discrepancy was due to burnt bodies being unrecognisable.

You know Israel could never go back to that for their security issues.
Jerusalem would be unsolved.
Gaza and West banks were unconnected.

We have no whatsoever idea of a 2-state solution.
We need a new idea.
Of course we do..the obvious is one of a one state solution with equal rights for Palestinians but just now this seems unpalatable/impossible to both sides, but in time ?? In many ways Israel is regarded as part of the West and is supported by the West. So perhaps the US, Europe should encourage a democratic process ?? And I say that through gritted teeth as I do feel many of the political issues in the last 100 years were created by the West in the first place.
