I was stopped crossing Ashton New Road by the police as they escorted the Real Madrid fans into the stadium the other night.

This organised event hasn’t got me suggesting GMP are not fit for purpose, it’s just common sense to prevent potential flash points.

I must have missed this common sense approach and acceptance to the policing of marches in the past when it felt like the police could do no right, where being dictated to by government and we where seconds away from a police state.

Amazing how quickly opinions can change and it’s a refreshing sight.

Hopefully it continues.

Have you watched the 13 minute clip where the police officer fully explains why they’ve made the choice they did, or are you basing it on the same info as Braverman?

Is he and other Jews not allowed in the vicinity then?

Let’s say they organise a counter demonstration, surely you have no issues with that as you’re pro protest, anti police/government interference yes?

Or shall we throw that away for the day and just say no Jews on the streets please whilst my pro Palestinian mates take over for the day?

What is a counter demonstration to a March calling for a ceasefire? One asking for more death?
It’s been long established that these are marches for peace (as always with any large gathering) there will be a few idiots but these marches want a ceasefire and have some Jewish people marching alongside

Did you miss my post where I said I felt the police officer was polite, handled it well other than the “openly Jewish” remark and the threat of arrest?

Him walking between the marchers was unnecessary, would have been provocative and imo would have led to disorder so the police acted correctly imo.

We actually agree. I was just commenting on similar police actions in the past that didn’t meet with the same understanding from some that’s all.

But he basically wants to cross the Street exactly where the Palestinian protest is. Literally right through them. He's going out of his way just to do that. It's tying up Dozens of coppers. What reason does he want to do it. I'd have this problem with a Pro Palestinian supporter wanting to walk right through an Israel protest too.
