Middlesbrough post-match thread

Don't blame him, who could stay happy living in Boro for long. And the board didn't give him the support he needed for the transfer window. Either back him, or they should have got Allardyce in. Looks more likely they'll go down
I didn't blame him and I'm sure they could do worse but for the reprehensible way he's managed his team in this game set him up for scorn.
His cheap shot in praise of Mourinho and the disgusting physicality of his side were a mark of the man.

Played well, defended well, dominated the game but wasted so many chances.

Dean let Boro get away with too many fouls. The rake on Aguero's Achillies and the potential leg breaker on Sterling should both have resulted in red cards.

Yeah maybe, but who would let their kid do this to be honest?

It certainly isn't a wise move. As others have said you would hope a bloke would rise above it but goading fan's you have just beaten, especially there, is asking for trouble. Usually it results in drawing angry attention and the dad getting a slap on his son's behalf, or a kid his own age belts him and it escalates from there.

Yeah you're kind of both right, a 50 year old man shouldn't be kicking off with a couple of kids even if they were giving lip but a parent should be stepping in and teaching them you shouldn't goad people or you could end up in bother... standing back and watching/laughing in amusement isn't the right thing to do.

Dean has been useless for quite a while now and like a lot of refs they never seem to give us any protection. What happened to the supposed to be protecting flair players from the cloggers?

Yeah that rule changed to any part of the body you can score with. Sterling was leaning off side if you like when the ball was played. When Sterling and Sane are running full pelt they could be level at the time the ball is played but look yards off a split second later.

Both correct decisions on this occasion.

Sterling was onside
It wasn't the defender near him playing him onside, there is one on the other side of the penalty area playing him on by at least half a yard
Dead easy to spot with the cut of the grass
