Where are you, the outer Hebrides ? I always used to catch grasshoppers when I was a kid.

Midges are a huge problem in Scotland, you can't go out in summer with being attacked by swarms of the bastards. They are more numerous than rags.

This is true, they taunt you with their uncoordinated attack patterns..the sneaky bastards!
 
Had a great night having a few jars, watching the tennis in spinningfields the other night.

Soon as it went dark, the midgies came out. Devoured me all over. Arms, face, scalp, bitten about 20 times.
Horrible bstards. How ironic it's only the females that suck blood.
