Guess what I saw today.

A grasshopper!!!. First time in my life I have seen one this far up north.

(sorry, don't want to hijack your thread but I don't think, as amazing as my Grasshopper experience was, it's worth its own thread.)

Where are you, the outer Hebrides ? I always used to catch grasshoppers when I was a kid.

Midges are a huge problem in Scotland, you can't go out in summer with being attacked by swarms of the bastards. They are more numerous than rags.

Hate them but not as much as moths and there are 2 of the bastards, THE SIZE OF MY FIST, taunting me in my own room

I dont like moths they just fly right at you

This is true, they taunt you with their uncoordinated attack patterns..the sneaky bastards!

Had a great night having a few jars, watching the tennis in spinningfields the other night.

Soon as it went dark, the midgies came out. Devoured me all over. Arms, face, scalp, bitten about 20 times.
Horrible bstards. How ironic it's only the females that suck blood.
