Manchester City are set to scupper Bolton's move for Sporting Lisbon midfielder Miguel Veloso, according to reports.

Veloso has been a long-term target for Bolton boss Gary Megson and the Wanderers saw a bid rejected for the 23-year-old in January.

It has been widely reported that Sporting are willing to let Veloso leave for a fee of around £15million, with Bolton believed to be willing to pay around £12m for the Portuguese international.

However, it now looks as if City are ready to step in and grant the talented *playmaker* his wish of a transfer to the Premier League by matching Sporting's valuation.

City would also be able to offer bigger wages and Veloso could be heading to Eastlands.

I have never played FM. For some odd reason, can't really explain it, I follow the Belgian First Division. I think I like to follow them because of the amount of young talent in the league as well as the amount of young talent on the Belgian National Team. I think there are so many great young players would could use from there. I am a huge Kompany fan and think he should be the centre back for the future at City.

I dont really mind if we get him or not! If he comes i think he could provide decent cover in midfield cause if kompany is playing cb and zab at rb he could be useful! If he doesnt come cool i cant see him being a world beater!

Not a signing we need. If we need balance and we are getting rid of Elano we need a central midfielder, a ball player, a playmaker. If we are looking for a playmaker i'd look no further than Veloso's team mate Moutinho. Veloso is a destroyer from deep, someone we do not need already signing De Jong and Barry. Moutinho is the kind of player we need.

SSN Reporter (Yes there's SSN in the US, but only at 11 and 6pm) says that Man City, Villa and Bolton(they are still in despite Megson's comment) are in for him and he was originally supposed to be in the Caicedo deal at first but he did not move the opposite direction. They also report that Man City wouldn't have to pay the 17mil amount because of Caicedo. GET IN VELOSO
