Manchester City sporting director Mike Rigg has made it clear that the Citizens are not pondering a swoop for 24-year-old Porto attacker Hulk.

The Brazilian forward is one of the most sought after players in Europe and is continually being linked with a move to England.

"No one will be able to sign him now, so the news that came out here makes no sense. We know it is impossible and, as such, we will not even make any approach," Rigg was quoted as saying by Record.

"In the summer? I think it's hard, because we are not looking for strikers right now.

"The squad is filled with options for that position, but I do not want to sound definitive, because several things can change in the meantime."

Nevertheless Rigg praised the powerful attacker, saying: "We are obviously watching him, but he is not a player we can sign right now, that's for sure.

"He is a player with a huge impact and a profile which perfectly fits the football played in the Premier League.

"I have no doubts his future can be here [in England] and I admit it would be hard to play against him."

There is no way we can sign Hulk in the winter. He is Porto's main scorer and they are going for trophies. It would take Ronaldo money to tempt Porto to sell now.

He is their Tevez, they won't sell right now.

Haha after all the Tevez saga broke last week I immediately peddled Tevez off to Scousepool and then signed Hulk as his direct replacement. Hulk has scored 52 in 51 league appearances for me. That being said it has no actual relevance to this story and I have to agree with Mike, we really don't have a need for him unless Tevez goes. We need a big target man if anything.
