Mike Riley - SSN

How nice of him! He and his mates should foucus on getting it right on the pitch then maybe there won't be much explanation on SSN needed to begin with.

When a ref sees an incident at full speed at just one angle (usually not the best) and then the rest of the world sees the same incident from 20 different perspectives in slow motion then the wrong decisions will always be amplified.

You can only judge a ref's decision against his view of the incident. The more replays you look at the more likely you are to conclude that the ref got it wrong.

The weazel faced twat said they looked at the Johnson 'tackle' for an hour. Most refs said it was a red card offence. Some said it was a yellow. Lee fuckin Mason who was on the pitch at the time didn't give anything!
He should be throwing the book at that prick!!

He said the FA's hands are tied by FIFA. Surely he couldn't pass the blame on to FIFA on TV if this wasn't the case.

Anyone see Mike Riley on Sky sports news earlier?

He stated that the refs have sent out a video to all clubs to illustrate what kind of tackles will be deemed to be sendings off. He said several times that when players fly in two footed they run the risk of a red card which I think is fair comment.

He also talked about retrospective action on decisions which have been "seen" by the match official(e.g. johnson and BAE). He said the reason why the FA can't act is due to FIFA regulations and that the FA are trying to change it.

I think it was a good move by Riley to make this appearance. The refs get slated every week yet we don't hear their side of the story or the rationale behind their decision making.

I think there should be more of these kind of appearances in order to promote a greater understanding and harmony between the refs and the rest of the game.

Imo people only seek to justify their actions when said actions are inconsistent with the 'norm'.

In this case, why would you need to clarify why one thing is x because.. and an identical thing is y because...unless you are admitting there are inconsistencies, bias, subjective opinions, ambiguity...

In how decisions are made.

I saw it, and I thought it highlighted the fact that we have suffered at the hands of bad decision making.

It also highlighted that if it continues, we have evidence that its not "bad decision making", it IS the bias that some of us believe, and the rest of us (at the back of our minds) have feared is taking place.

I think the first test is Saturday!

He also admitted that referees often book players "in the hope that it has the desired affect"

Suppose it explains Barry's bookings against Liverpool, Balotelli's booking for his first foul every match, and more recently, Vinny's and Julian's yellers on Tuesday.

I wonder what his thoughts were on Kolorov being booked for being fouled too?

Corrupt bent bastards.
It never seems to happen to Charlie Adam or Scott Parker, who get away with 3 or 4 fouls before there's even a hint of a yellow card.

Nobody doubts referees get it wrong on the day. They make mistakes, no biggie. They're only human, it's a very fast game.

No, I have the problem when the cheating cunts have a video of it to look at again, and spend an hour staring at before bottling it one more time!

The Glen Johnson incident wasn't a case of refereeing the game again... the blind twat missed it first time around, so he hasd a second chance to correct it and still couldn't fucking see that it was a two footed lunging tackle!

What chance have we got when they can't even get it right in the comfort of a video room, taking as much time as necessary?

And what about Crouch? And Maxi? And Evra? And Assou Ekota? And why it's become so endemic to the game that every Blue I know just knew that Walton would give us jack shit at Everton... and be proved right.

If the fa were that bothered about fifa rules leaving them with there hands tied over what they can and cant look at retrospectively. Why dont they encourage the refs to lie about what they saw and didnt see. Fergison and winger do it every week ,so they would be creating a level playing field for the refs .

Outrageous that Johnson got away with that and it was far worse while Vinny got a 4 match ban when the ref gave nothing there either. If Johnson had also been banned then I could contemplate that the FA at least behaved in an even handed fashion even if they were wrong!

Bit no, one rule for Liverpool and another for City. Fed by the biased medja who went on a ridiculous witch hunt for Vinny but virtually ignored Johnson (and other far worse incidents).

The FA should be able to rise above any such biased medja frenzy and deal out its punishments in a fair and even handed manner.

They clearly don't.

They are therefore either incompetent and/or biased and/or corrupt.
