Mike Tyson v Bruce Lee. Who would win?

Have you seen the speed of Bruce Lee? Tyson wouldn't get anywhere near him, he could punch at 40 miles per hour. Add to that he was also an expert in sweeping and grappling techniques. I reckon he'd have him on the deck before tyson knew what had happened.

No stats available for Mike Tyson's punch speed, and most information about Bruce Lee is pure Hollywood hokum.

According to 'unofficial' timings by one of Lee's trainers, Bruce Lee could land a punch in around 5 hundredths of a second (0.05 second) from 3 feet away, and could close from 5 feet away in around 8 hundredths of a second (0.08 second).

The trainer's own times from 3 feet were between 11 and 18 hundredths of a second (0.11 and 0.18 second). Closing from a distance like 5 feet they were in the low twenties (0.21–0.23).

This was something that Lee’s fans bragged about for decades. At least until someone did the maths for them and they learned that .05 of a second is 40 mph and that many other people have been measured at greater speeds.

Just as an example, SPORTS ILLUSTRATED Magazine measured Muhammad Ali’s punch at .04 of a second in 1969... This was during his exile from boxing when most experts say that Ali “lost his speed.”

In a nutshell, Bruce Lee wasn't as fast as his films made him look.

As for 'sweeping and grappling'... Lee would have to get close to Tyson to even think about doing that. One punch = Lights out.
