There were around 440 stabbings in Manchester in 2020 and that had risen from previous years where each year from 2016 saw a rise.

Not seen the stats for 2021 but the trend is upwards so it’s probably not going to have gone down.

One in ten instances of knife crime are committed by 15-19 year olds.

While its a huge shame and an unnecessary waste of life, its hardly a surprise to wake up to such news.

Society is a mess,we live in times that are as bad as ive ever known, and until genuine deterrents and punishment,or,ideally....education,is implemented, then these incredibly sad, barbaric, and tragic, incidents will continue to be a part of our existence.

Actually thought it would be higher than that in all honesty.

Tragic news and a waste of life.

A 44 year old man, known to the victim and his mother, has been arrested in connection with the crime. The father?

Don't think so,could have been involved with the mother perhaps but all speculation. no doubt things will become clearer. So sad the boys life's been taken away.

Both wholly inadequate.

From reading between the lines on the MEN comments, it seems he was trying to protect his mum (who was also stabbed and in hospital). The man was arrested in Kent, so assume he was trying to flee the country.

Sentences have never been tougher. If convicted, the bloke will get life in prison with a minimum tariff.

Anders Breitvik didn’t get a life sentence for murdering nigh on 100 people, yet Norway hasn’t had loads of similar killings since.

People don’t factor in the potential length of custodial sentence when carrying out such crimes.

People have less ability to deal with being dumped/made fun of etc. and lash out more.

I read a book by a Manchester forensic pathologist and it states that most murder is the final act of people who consider themselves to be 'losers'.
There are certainly many who feel excluded from the party and now thanks to social media they get to feel even more excluded from the party. And yet many who appear to have it all are a bit fucked up too. What a finely tuned hell we have created.

Every bleeding day now..I'm getting closer to going living in the woods and making a tree house
