Milner / Sterling, so what's the difference?

Milner doing his best to upset Blues by stating'liverpool are a bigger club than City, keep it zipped Jimmy!

Makes me laugh seeing all the Liverpool fans pretending not to care and laughing at us as he isn't worth more than 10m, they were all calling him world class not too long ago.

The whole concept of measuring the "size" of a club is arbitrary, it depends upon how you measure size. Fanbase? Liverpool are far bigger than City. Overall trophy haul? Again, Liverpool far exceed City. Performances over the past decade (i.e. current place in World football)? Well, now you'll find City are actually a bigger club than Liverpool by that measure.

Being a "bigger club" by the measures most use (which is, indeed, fanbase and past success) is all well and good, but it doesn't actually mean all that much when it comes to the present day, to actually winning trophies in the here and now, to attracting top players to join your club. In all of those categories City outweigh Liverpool. Obviously, over time, that can change, but that's not relevant right now. Right now, when you consider the 2015/16 season, and the prospects for future seasons, Manchester City are a bigger club than Liverpool. Let Liverpool have their past glories, as impressive as they are they matter little to the present day, or to the current crop of world class footballers. Winning multiple trophies in the 1970's and 1980's doesn't bring success in 2015/2016. I'll take our situation at present, thanks all the same.

To be fair if you read the article he didn't phrase it like that.

Former Manchester City man James Milner insists he is now with a bigger club at Liverpool.

The midfielder left the Etihad at the end of his contract this month to join Liverpool after winning two Premier League titles and FA Cup and a Capital One Cup in his time with the Blues.

He says he made the switch to ensure maximum playing time - but his parting shot about the Blues’ status is set to get under the skin of City fans.

And the fact that his comments come in a week when a plethora of former Anfield stars have lined up to have a pop at City over the Raheem Sterling saga , will exacerbate that feeling.

Milner said: “It’s a huge club and Man City, maybe over the course of history, isn’t as quite as big as Liverpool.

“At this moment in time City are doing very well and expected to win trophies. The set-up is all there. I had a lot of conversations with the hierarchy at City and they never said a bad word about me.

“It was just their opinions on where I fitted in.”

Milner was disgruntled about the amount of playing time handed to him by City manager Manuel Pellegrini - particularly in big games.

“They saw me as a big part of the club,” he said.

As for the difference Milner's ending his career, Sterling is starting his.

I guess that's another difference. Jimmy thinks the dippers are a bigger club - Sterling thinks Jimmy's full of shit! I tend to agree with Raheem.

You'd think Mr Milner though would have enough respect for the trophies he won at City to avoid all discussions about the size of the club. I also read somewhere that he made some comments about getting goosebumps when he turned up at Anfield with City. Hmmm ... it's one thing trying to ingratiate yourself with your new supporters, but personally I think his comments are sounding crass, and the more he repeats that everyone at City loved him and how they really wanted to keep him, the more he sounds like a wanker.

Not a peep out of Milner in all the years he played for us and picked up winners medals yet within a few weeks of going to Liverpool he is making noises in the press about them being a bigger fucking club.

The man is a knob who should go back to being the quiet man and he should remember what we did for his career and the way we treated him, especially towards the end when it was clear he was going to them.

Milner was a sneaky hobbitses

Sterling just got his balls out on the table and said 'fuck you, I'm off'
