Minute's applause v Sunderland (55th minute)

So sorry to hear this news pal. I for one will be clapping in the south stand with my little girl. 55 is no age! My condolences to the family n friends. CTWD

R.I.P, mate, I'll certainly be very proud indeed, as a fellow blue, to give the lad a rousing round of applause on the day. It's the least we can do for 'one of our own'

Deepest condolences to all his family & friends.

RIP Blue
Condolences to family and friends.

Have to say though I think tributes for lost blues should be pre-match.

I agree, this is in danger of getting out of hand.Every New Year the club pay tribute to all fans
of the club that have passed away during the year and put their names up on the screens for
everyone to pay their respect.

I never forget this point. I take every chance I can to do what I love doing as I know my turn will come.

R.I.P.

Great attitude to have and since I watched my Mum go to bastard cancer in 5 days one I will be following myself in the not too distant future.Lifes to short to mess about with nonsense.

statistically, out of a 50000 crowd, more than one a day will die. Not all as young as 55 but you could have a minute's applause every minute of the 90 for every Blue who died during the close season.

I don't mean to appear cold hearted but we have the end of year minute's silence for this.

It gets a bit much and means less and less the more this happens and it's starting to happen a lot.

Where are you getting your stats from? Out of 50,000 people 1 a day will die?! Its not the 1400's

Statistically if you asked 100 people a simple maths question 87% will get it right and 16% will get it wrong.

I'm going to be another one to appear cold hearted, in that case. My sympathies to his family, as to any relatives who lose a loved one. It's a crushing time. But is there a particular reason why the minute's silence during the festive period doesn't cover these bereavements? Where is the line drawn; a parent of a blue? A child? A sibling? You could easily end up having a minute's silence/applause at almost every game. If the family of the gentleman concerned is reading this, please accept my condolences and that what I'm saying is in no way a comment on your particular scenario. And I apologise if I have offended anyone.

^ silence mate, minute's silence at the last game of the calendar year.
