Missing mooners

What a fighter Kaz, you're made of strong stuff.
Wishing you a speedy recovery, helped by that refreshing sea breeze.

And you'll be calling someone a twat in no time, there's plenty in the matchday thread who deserve it.

Just seen this. Bloody hell @kaz7 that must have been scary! My daughter & son-in-law are paramedics and they've said in the past that the chances of surviving a cardiac arrest are low (I think they said 1 in 7) so it's a good job it happened in hospital. Someone was definitely looking out for you.

Take it easy and hopefully we'll see you at a meet-up in the not too distant.

Thanks Colin , if only i had known i was allergic to iv penicillin i wouldnt have had the cardiac arrest, but still it wasnt a bad place to have one xx

The worst thing about the whole saga is now, my mouth is still a bit swollen and half of it is numb, i am trying to eat some easter eggs and i am dribbling it all down my front , come on god i have my fucking limits , wasting good chocolate is out of order man !!

Hello lovelies

Thank for all the messages and support

I woke up on the 25th jan and had a really big abcess in my mouth and huge swelling in my cheek and not able to open my mouth, i went to A&E, went straight in and the dr said you need iv antibiotics right now

He asked do you have any allergies , i dont so he went with penicillin , as he was putting it in my arm i said i feel weird and next thing i found myself in intensive care , i had had an an anaphyalactic (sp) shock and a cardiac arrest , i also had septic shock from my mouth infection, the end stage of sepsis , next step death

I was in real trouble and spent two or three days in intensive care and the rest of the week on high dependancy , which was next door , same staff which was nice

Turns out recovery from cpr is hard , it is so very painful , i dont know how i survived the cardiac arrest and septic shock, i had no recordable bp and i had a adrenaline drip for several days till i could sustain my pressure unaided along with high dose steroids and antibiotics and other things

I have flashbacks about many hands all over me putting in a load of drips and a catheter and drip in my neck down to my heart which is the quickest route for drugs and fluids , it is stiched in and i had multiple meds and fluids for the week

I had three heart scans and given the all clear, sepsis likes to go to the heart and stick up the valves , after concerns about my kidneys they are ok so long as i drink plenty

I had four different iv antibiotics all week and the toxicologist put together a regime i had to take at home , the pharmacist came and talked me through it as it was complicated and my brain wasnt working to well at that point

I am in awe of the itu and hdu staff, they do 12 hour shifts and your nurse never leaves your side, i felt very safe, also the drs and everyone in other depts that clear scanners so i could go straight in, the photo lady who took photos of my mouth for the face drs to see , the lady who brought the meals and fresh water and as i couldnt eat much she got me lots of milk and banana and cold custard , lush

I feel shattered and weak, told this is a long recovery, saw my dr yesterday and i already have a chest infection, he said you will pick up everything and until your immune system can fight infections it will mean more antibiotics, cant let any infection take hold

The first thing i did was get a medic alert bracelet with allergic to penicillin, i have had lots of tablets , quite recently and no problem with it but it is a no no now

The drs said i could go to a ward for a few days but there was no beds and i really didnt feel good at bed blocking hdu so we discussed me going home with four weeks support at home , eventually the drs said ok. The red cross took me home , settled me in and gave me milk and bread , they also provided carers , i stopped that after a couple of days as i can look after myself and i had had enough of people fussing. They call me every few days and they will send whatever help i need if i change my mind

My job now is to take the meds , rest and drink loads of water and cuddle merlin a lot , he had a difficult week without me , my friend went in every day to feed him and he spat at her every day , rude !

I wont be posting again for a while. I am too tired, i am not interested in football , it seems very unimportant right now, i am struggling mentally with being dead for four or five mins and how close i was to staying dead , it is a very emotional and confusing time right now

Thanks again , much love XXX
I was on the pre match and realised I’d not seen a post from you for a while.

Having read that, I am super glad you are able to be back posting. It sounds like one hell of a trauma and experience.

Stay well, Kaz. X

My advice would be to only eat out of the side that isn't numb.

Wow I've been away a lot in January and February so completely missed your post @kaz7
Bloody hell, so sorry for you, you've been through it girl. I hope you're recovering and feeling better.
Just stay away from penicillin:)
Lots of love to you.xx

I only just discovered your post and was wondering all this time did you get the central heating fixed ? :) that’s not as important now springtime is here because you have been so poorly and trying to recover from your hospital date with all those lovely doctors and nurses caring for you.

You are here with us, that’s all that matters until your health, immune system picks up again. Take care Kaz sending a big KB Bluemoon hug Xx

Still alive ! Progress is slow, having a lot of follow up appointments with different consultants , lots of scans and tests, be nice to get a break from going back to hospitals but cant complain about how thorough they are

I recently learnt i was in a deep coma from the arrest in A&E for a couple of days in intensive care , my brain is still trying to sort out the lost time with flashbacks and bad dreams but i am trying to let it go accepting i will never be able to account for those lost days

If you have any infection and you feel ill get yourself to casualty or ring 111, jump on any infection straight away before it goes into sepsis , you can recover from mild sepsis but once it goes to septic shock most people die, the immune system goes mad and attacks your vital organs and drops your blood pressure so you have no blood or oxygen going to your organs, that is put very simply, it is a good deal more complicated than that

I am reading a bit here and there but i am still not interested in football, city has been such a big part of my life for 45 yrs and i hope my love affair hasnt come to an end , enjoy it more whilst you can and moan less !

Hope to be back eventually but not yet, the mods are getting an extended break !

Much love xxx

Hi Kaz, only just seen what happened to you. Sending my love. You're a fighter that's for sure!

Don't give up on City, for all the bickering and whingeing on this place it's a wonderful forum when you're feeling low and need a pick up. That's the positive side of City and football that can be forgotten sometimes.
