Mistake, After Mistake, After mistake! Why Can't We See Games Out?

The team is not good enough.

Moments in the game is fine but it stems from our inability to keep the ball.

The team is done and no one at the club wants to admit it.

Playing the old guard instead of letting a new player come in and try to take the role in the team is criminal at this point.

What’s the point? Play the same players who continue to make the same mistakes?

We are doing a dip/rag denial season.

ultimately our inability to keep the ball is where the problems start and end.

What is this constant need and urge to want to attack and to play out from the back, even when we are leading and there are a few minutes of the game left?

2-1 up. Ederson has the ball. Instead of holding on to the ball, wasting a bit of time, telling the players to get up the pitch, wasting a bit more time, forcing the Real Madrid players back up the pitch, out of our half, he takes a quick and short kick, and...

What has happened to us seeing games out, slowing games down, and taking our time at the end of the game when we're winning?

There's no need to constantly chase another goal. We're already winning! See the fucking game out. Waste time. Hoof the fucking ball into row Z. Do anything to not give the ball away, and to waste some time.

Frustrated rant over.
We are awful at seeing games out. And I'm not sure why we don't use edersons kicking (questionable kicking after recent performances) before that second goal he goes down lies down for 10 seconds. Stands up and thunder fucks it as far into their corner as possible similar to kicking into touch in rugby and hold them in their half as best we can winning throw ins, corner or whatever.

I think 75 mins is generous. For me it’s an hour and we’re done. You can see the legs fading and the intensity drops significantly. Especially the likes of Kdb, kova, ilkay. There’s others too.
Yeah can see the kegs on some going after an hour. Poor Aké, what a player(!), but the lad is broken, De Bruyne too.

Exactly. Leather the ball into their half for a throw in. They've got to get the ball, throw it in, and start the attack from deep inside their half. That gives us time to reset, and to make sure we're ready to defend another attack from inside their half.

I just don't get this fucking need and urge to keep on attacking right until the end of the game, that has constantly happened this season.

Happened in the Bernebeu in 2022 n’all.

It's not even the fact of keeping on the offensive. It's peps inability to let go of his philosophy for the basics. 2 minutes to go, yes the other team can't score if we have the ball. But if you're not confident in keeping the ball, just get rid of it. Simple basic defending and we seem to have lost that art.

Either the players are confident in their ability to keep the ball, but it's clear as day that as a team we are not good enough to retain the ball when we are hassled. I mean we don't even need to be hassled anymore this season we fuck it up for them to take advantage.

We need to go back to basics and no nonsense defending for a while. Get some clean sheets and confidence back in the defence and keeper. And a change of philosophy. Not totally as I agree we need the ball, but be a bit more explosive when we win it back. And not win it and return it to ederson to start our attack.

I think the answer is simple. The players are to mentally and physically knackered to play 90 minutes.

Imagine how draining it must be knowing that every game is a must win game for the last 7 seasons.

I don't know the answer as this season finishes a month before the new starts. It's fucking ridiculous, what's next season going to be like ?

Comment of the day.

We can all say “In Pep We Trust,” but the problem is who Pep is trusting!

I would hazard a guess that it will be pretty similar to this one with signs of progress being made. We need another 4 players for me now. This side is done.

De Bruyne/Bernado/Kovacic/Gundogan all need replacing and we need a right back.

Pep is blinded by past glory and almost beholden to some of the senior players.

Complete blind spot when deciding who starts. Come on man, wake up and trust the new players.

Unfortunately this season he is part of the problem. That’s not turning on him or the players. A change of direction is badly needed.

If we get a non guilty verdict at 115 then I think he may go. I don’t know if he has the drive anymore to build another team. His decisions regarding players and subs is baffling to say the least. That’s not saying I want him out at all. He can do no wrong for me but it’s been a poor season by his standards.

He just like them is allowed to not get it right. My issue is not letting other players take over and that includes a few from the academy.

Anyway, it won’t happen. This is our season and it’s not enjoyable but like many have said it was inevitable.

All we can do is get through it but how we get through is down to pep and right now it’s a slog due to loyalty and trust but not what is actually happening in games.

The old pep would have been ruthless.

Quite.. and especially given what's about to happen in the summer with the additional burden of the forthcoming, stupid f**king World Club championship.

Mind, I still say we need to add to our coaching staff an expert in 'Row Z Tactics'. If Eddie and Rico had dipped into the manual and used said play tonight, we might not have ended up with yet another dismal snatching of defeat from the jaws of victory..

Sweet baby Jesus on a bike, sort it, Pep and the board.. just f**king sort it..

Even without the mistakes Madrid missed so many clear cut chances on another day they could have hit 5 on us we just aren’t anywhere near good enough this year to challenge the elite clubs.
