The only team I care about more than City is my beloved Phils. I was there when they won last year and it might have been the greatest night of my life. I was raised as a Phils fan and watch damn near all of their 162 games every year, the only time I miss a game is if it's for work or somebody is getting married, has died or is being born.

Here is a nice little clip of their best player, Chase Utley, speaking to fans after the parade celebrating their second championship since their inception in 1883:

BTW, he got in a little trouble over this.

Hey Buckshot, was there myself last year for the 3rd game, lucky i got to it as it was nearly postponed because of the rain and was flying the next day. Got a mate in Haddonfield, NJ and he was able to score tickets! So my only game is a world series game!!! Most people in Philly wanted to kill me!!!
Have to say didn't know to much about baseball before i was there, but the atmosphere in the City that week was amazing, picked it up watching the 2 away games in some irish bar drinking sam adams and eating cheesesteaks!!!
Have to give credit to the fans as well think that game went on past 2 in the morning!!! Always helps with that big screen playing the rocky theme tune to get everybody going though!!!
Hopefully they can do it again this year!!!
Cool how all there sportswear is city blue as well

Baseball is a tough sell to Europeans but being at a game like that and soaking in that atmosphere would be enough to get somebody hooked.

Did you see what happened last night? They look like they're going back to the series again!

Do they play six or seven games a week for six months straight in and often spend their one day off traveling thousands of miles in rounders?

To be fair though, apart from the pitcher, it's hardly the most active of games is it? A lot of standing/sitting around.

(I have watched a fair bit, I'd like to think I know the rules too, in case you dismiss my opinion 'cos I don't know the game)

Oh, and I cried when we wont the series last year. Like a baby. In the middle of broad street.

I agree it isn't constant exertion but being able to track down fly balls requires a ton of speed and the strength to hit a ball out of a ballpark can't be overlooked. Then there is that little issue of hitting a round ball traveling at speeds in excess of 90 mph with a round bat. It's probably the most specialized sport in the world. Most semi-athletic people could score a on a penalty against the best keepers in the world and a very small percent could even touch a major league fastball.

Atlanta... bandwagon jumper from way back I'm afraid.

Oh, and Toucans in the Cronulla competition.

I lived in Cronulla for a few months, Hows Northies these days?

EDIT: Blue Jays FTW. Been to watch a game in Toronto, great spectacle. Baseball is prolly the only US game that could make it in the rest of the world.

Cleveland Indians for me, from watching the "Major League" movie with Wesley Snipes & Charlie Sheen. Lost interest last couple of years but since getting ESPN started watching the odd game again. I've noticed a trend in most of my American sport team picks, they appear to all be rubbish at the moment apart from NY Giants.

It's like Attack of the Clones as always... everyone looks the bloody same in there.

Sundays usually are pretty decent there.

Rounders is indeed a tough sell to Europeans as we find the concept of grown men playing a girls game in ridiculous pyjamas somewhat absurd.
I would rather watch it played by 6th form public schoolgirls in gymslips.
As,i'm sure, would most other posters.
