Month without alcohol for charity

To be honest with you lot I know I could not go 1 month, in fact I would struggle with a week.. used to only drink when out on the lash.. but now I prefer sitting in drinking myself listning to a bit of Primal Scream and having a reefa.

I'm going without alcohol in September to raise money for charity (and hopefully provide some health benefits). Going okay in the early stages but got a feeling the cravings won't be far away. To make matters worse, broke up with my girlfriend of 3 and a half years the day before the month started, she's a City fan just because of me, but I digress ...

Anyway, anyone done the month without alcohol thing, and any advice?

i did 49 days without a drop of alcohol. its probably the hardest thing iv done.
im not a huge drinker but i binge at weekend (mainly saturday),and have the odd one in the week.
i caved in the end i was going for 8 weeks but just didnt make it ,and got hammered on the 49th night.
advice? its just prely willpower.
try avoid getting into situations where booze is readily available. and take each day as it comes.
good luck, (just getting a corona out the fridge)

In all seriousness, some of you need help if you're in anyway dependant on alcohol to deal with life. The fact many of you seem concerned that a month without it will be a struggle should certainly set the alarm bells off - worrying.....

I think I could pack it in for ever but its the refreshing feeling of a couple of cans after a hard days work.

OK cheers Dad, I'm off to take a long hard look at myself in the mirror.

Gave up for a year for a bet once. The first month was probably the hardest because I wasn't convinced I could do it. But when I'd done one month I thought I could 2 and so on. So I reckon you'll have no problem, just break it down into days and then a week. Once you've done a week you know you can do a 2nd week. Easy.

Grow up ffs.
Countless lives are ruined by alcohol and its an issue that should not be trivialised or made a mockery of.I hope it never impacts on you.
