Possible, but even then it wouldnt be "typical city". By then (the hypothetical Munich defeat) we would still have made the couple of world class signings we need to make a genuine league challenge. We'll still be better than now, this time last year, this time the year before etc. The FA Cup will still be in the the trophy cabinet.
There are bound to be blips on the way. That doesnt make it "typical city".

Consider this scenario:
We are cruising in the league with a guaranteed CL place in the bag, until we get a series of stuffings from mid table journeymen teams in the last few games of the season. We then end up finishing 4th with a very real chance of ending up with Thursday nights, Channel 5 football.
We are through to the cup final where we meet another mid table journeymen team, though one who can give us a good game on the day. If we win it will give us our first silverware in donkey's years. We blow it - we don't turn up and they are fired up for the final which they nick with a scruffy goal.
We are struggling to hold on to our best players. We have the nucleus of a great team, but some glaring gaps in the squad. We have brought in some good players but some dross as well. We play some beautiful stuff but are prone to cock-ups.
Typical City?
I think not - I'm writing about Arsenal, but the point is that "Typical City"'s season would have gone much the same way as Arsenal's has done. Instead, we are sitting pretty in 3rd and have a big fat silver cup in our cabinet.

I'm 24 mate, iv only been a season ticket holder since 16 but iv seen enough bad times to( not as may as them of course and you). You've just put me on a downer! This is what we once were after seeing the boys last night I couldn't help think that they had passed through a wall of uncertainty and now believe in themselves awesome display!
