There is a letter in the Times from the ex-chairman of Liverpool, David Moores.

It makes for very interesting reading and there is something we should all take note of -

To give just one example, we responded to overtures from Thailand - the figures discussed were so enormous we were obliged to take a closer look. We had just persuaded Rafa to join the club as manager and were eager to back him in the transfer market. No matter how dizzying their wealth though, we would never simply rush into a relationship with an unsuitable partner, and so it transpired with Thailand. After looking closely at the deal we withdraw from the proposition, and did so for all the honourable reasons you’d expect from our club. So it was ironic that Manchester City was subsequently sold to the same entity, without so much as a murmur of disapproval from their fan base. When it suits them, football fans can turn a blind eye to the things they’d rather not have to acknowledge. We did acknowledge it though - we confronted the reality that the Thai offer was unethical, made our decision to withdraw and carried on the search.

So now apparently Liverpool are being sold as the most honorable club, the club that does things right. Liverpool is the club of the people etc etc.

As we know there is truth in what he says about Frank but how can it be honorable to sell to the current muppet owners?

If anyone would like the full transcript let me know and I will copy on here.

Well sorry Mr Moores, but our club is in safer hands than yours :).

Also as fans isnt this why we put trust in a c.e.o and other exec's to do the best for its fans. hardly the fans fault there was a takeover.

Then looked what happened to us...Frank got new investors which could have easily happened down the M62

Fuck Liverpool, soft bastards,no used in crying now, they copped for a couple of Yanks, like those tools across town, and we all know what Yanks are about.BIG BOLD BRASH but also full of shit.

So Moores can fuck off the soft twat,he didnt gamble and now his club which he is part of is fucking useless ON and OFF the pitch, and be even more fucked if they keep the fat Spanish waiter on as manager, not to mention if Gerrard and Torres jump ship

Liverpool are gonna become mid table team at best in the forseeable

The decision not to sell to Thaksin was not for moral reasons per se but because he was proposing to set up a state lottery to fund the purchase.

One irony is that Moores sold to two investors who seemingly had no intention of putting money in so it hardly makes him a moral beacon. The other is that Wardle wouldn't sell to Ranson simply because he didn't like him yet he sold to Thaksin, who should have rung all sorts of alarm bells.

David Moores, struggling to see the wood for the trees!

If they'd sold to Frank then they might well have own owners now. Or is there something wrong with them too?

Moores is just jealous like a lot of others. Look where his supposedly 'honourable' deed has got Liverpool into and look where we with our ambition are at.

It's about taking the opportunity, there will be risks to it but depends whether the rewards are greater than the risks involved.

what he means is why the f--k didn,t i sell to frank, then he could have sold liverpool to citys current owners?

Screw him. We are used to the bitter rants by now aren't we? There were quite a few 'murmers of disapproval' from City fans as well from what I remember.
