As an example of how we are more advanced on the issue of racism: Take our average sporting event, where average americans come together- democrats and republicans, and everything in between. You never hear any incidents of fans calling players racially insensitive names. It doesn't happen!! You hear about it all the time in Europe, occasionally in England, but not as much as other parts of Europe.
If it happened here in american sports stadiums, believe me you'd hear about it. We live in a society in the US which is hyper-sensitive to racism, and NOONE gets away with it.
You hear about it at political rallies, because there are nuts on both sides (not average americans) who attend political rallies.
All depends where you are. Racism is very much alive here in the SE. Of course it doesn't happen at sporting events, because there would be no point. Take African Americans out of US sports, and you dont have sports. Or pretty crappy sports.
Now take something a little more important, say, an African American actually having a major say in the lives of white folks, how much money they have, their healthcare, their safety....and here they come....some of the stupidest, most racist people I have ever seen and heard have crawled out of the woodwork in the last few months.
Obama has got little chance of winning anywhere around here. Maybe NC and FL. Not because his policies are bad, but because he isn't white.
Shame.
