Don't see it happening.
I really don`t understand all the negativity towards the lad as IMO we could be signing a wonderful talent who Pep can/could make into an even better player.
I can only assume some people hate the fact that we are not signing a so called "world class player" ? Tell me the last time we truly signed one ?
People seem to react to each reported link to a player like he's the only signing and the price the selling club brief is nailed on to be paid.No I think that's the biggest thing, if he's a supplementary signing then I've no issue. But the issue starts when it's instead of a Wirtz or Reijnders level player. Bernardo is a great comparison in he isn't the star and he doesn't score or assist shed loads but I can't imagine anybody would turn their nose up and going back and signing him again. Even with the English tax of a MGW.
Absolutely, very black and white views with no critical thinking.People seem to react to each reported link to a player like he's the only signing and the price the selling club brief is nailed on to be paid.
Realistically we could sign both.MGW vs Reijnders
Appearances 28 < 31
Goals 5 < 10
Assists 7 > 3
Chances created 44 > 41
Tackles 37 > 23
Interceptions 17 < 31
Headers won 35 > 5
Take ons 28 < 34
Actually think Gibbs-White would be the better box to box midfielder for us. Defensive stats far superior. Reijnders can't tackle and is terrible in the air despite being 6'1. MGW creates more, all his chances created are from open play whilst a lot of Reijnders have come from set pieces.
Reijnders is better at looking after the ball, pass completion a lot better and loses it less often(dispossessed/poor touches). But we have those type of players in abundance.
They all could but doubt they all will, even then we need full backs and a 10, so doubt we;d sign both.Realistically we could sign both.
Nunes/Gundo/Kova/Bernado all could be leaving.
All depends on the severity of the rebuild. Firstly we are relying on teams wanting to sign certain players. We also have Jan signings and youth players to take places. They all could but doubt they all will, even then we need full backs and a 10, so doubt we;d sign both.
But we are going to be paying upwards of £100m for an upgrade on Nunes?
We could have had Bruno G for £100m last summer, should have just paid that.
If we need a HG player to replace Grealish, there are much better options to choose from like Frimpong for €40m buyout. A player that would give us the option to go 3 at the back with flying wing backs.
I personally don't see how he fits out team.
He has thrived immensely from being in a team that has statically the lowest amount of possession in the league. He has all that space to run into and play his game.
He will be coming up against parked tanks every week at City and won't know what he has to do when he can't run into space anymore.
Yes, but that doesn't mean to say we should fill it with average English players just for the sake of it.Grealish is going. Walker is going. Stones probably going. We need to increase the squad size, we’re losing 2-3 homegrown players and need to make it bigger means we have to sign some homegrown players, yes.
Explain ???You've just answered your own question as to why we find ourselves fighting for a champions league place this season instead of fighting for a Premier league title.
Are you suggesting MGW is an average player ?Yes, but that doesn't mean to say we should fill it with average English players just for the sake of it.
We aren’t in the title race because of numerous injuries, the main and obvious one being Rodri. You've just answered your own question as to why we find ourselves fighting for a champions league place this season instead of fighting for a Premier league title.
I am!Are you suggesting MGW is an average player ?
Fuck me then you really don`t understand football or his qualities and how he could help our club if you think he`s only average. I bet he makes the PL Team of the Season as voted by the Players.I am!
I think he's the latest in a long line of Premier League players who have outperformed their level in one season before regressing to their average thereafter.Fuck me then you really don`t understand football or his qualities and how he could help our club if you think he`s only average. He’s been top for 2/3 yearsI think he's the latest in a long line of Premier League players who have outperformed their level in one season before regressing to their average thereafter.
If the fee is good he could be a decent option from the bench but if it's over £50m and he's replacing prime Bernardo or Gundo we'll continue to slip away from our previous highs.
Its all about opinions but Bernie for some reason has been dreadful this season and I was very surprised that the club gave Gundo and additional twelve months. Seems that KDB is playing better and he claims he`s much better now he has fully recovered from his injury. Were we too hasty in not giving him a twelve month extension based on these final few games ?I think he's the latest in a long line of Premier League players who have outperformed their level in one season before regressing to their average thereafter.
