Morgan Gibbs-White

Without Fernandinho we looked terrible, without Rodri we look terrible.

Cruyff said about Barca when they had Neymar, Messi and Suarez, that yes they look good now, but what happens when Busquets is gone?

That role is vitally important in the Pep system. Gonzales has been here two minutes and in much of the games he’s played, we’ve been far more stable with him at the Pivot.

The reality is, Rodri will be back next year, and (accounting for him coming back more or less the same player) we will look a much better side and anybody that plays in midfield with him will have the freedom to affect games.

If Rodri was around this season, Foden, KDB, Gundogan et al, might not have looked as bad and we’d almost certainly 2nd or 3rd.

Gibbs White would be great for us alongside Rodri, just like Foden will be.
I agree with most of that - I also think that Gonzales and Rodri can play together as both are comfortable moving forward with the ball - especially Rodri

However Gibbs white is a limited player who plays in a completely different system to us...the actual anithisis of our system actually. He si ok with space to move int but facing a back 10 camped on the edge the defensive area is something he doesnt have the skill set to do...Gibbs white is not in the same stratosphere when it comes to technical ability with a football as Foden is when playing well

Much better than Foden this season…but that’s not saying much.

Doubt it will happen though. Forest would presumably want close to £100m for him.

I think he's the kind of player that's fine to be in the squad but is nowhere near the level to be replacing someone like KDB. We do have a HG issue so can see why they're looking at him, but it's one thing being effective in a team that plays in transition, it's another being effectively in a team that plays proactively and against low blocks.

Foden played less games and got better stats in a season everyone saying he is poor!
Have you been impressed by his performances this season?

He had a brief spell where he looked back to his best but for the most part he’s performed at a much lower level than we’re used to seeing.

I don’t think he’s limited at all, I think he drives with the ball really well, similar to a younger De Bruyne and creates most of the chances at Forest. He plays with his head up, he’s good in tight areas and gets himself about too. Great off the ball as well.

Rodri, MGW and Foden would be a lovely midfield 3 that compliments each other I reckon but I guess we’ll see what happens.

I genuinely would not get this signing at all.

He thrives at Forest because they have statistically the lowest possession figures in the league and because of that uses his ability to expose the amount of space the opposition leaves behind.

He would be utterly useless in our team. It would be like current Grealish all over again.

Agreed.

Where's the level of ambition when we're being linked with players like this?

Annoying that Arse are looking at Lautoro martinez. I know we have Haaland, but for me he's too injury prone and limited in his play ( very rarely holds off which central defender thug marking him.

Haalands injury record has been good since he joined. Missed 6 weeks last year and 6 weeks this year, not to bad considering he plays most games.

Ah ask a question after I said foden has better stats than a transition player Gibbs who wouldn't have 1/5 of Foden stats this season! Foden played 375 games he is 24 was world class last season and we have some fans calling him out sorry I won't!

He's very well respected in his home town of Stafford.
At the leisure centre there's a plaque listing the swimmers of the year. For one year, there's a random entry showing "Morgan Gibbs White (Footballer)".
This is so random it’s great

Looking to replace one of the 3 world class players we have is not the way to make this team better.

MGW has been OK this season......but way over hyped, probably because he's English, and bang average the seasons before this. He is levels below a team competing to win the CL.

We've done well by playing the long game before. You try this summer knowing full well that the other clubs won't sell. But you just keep going back every transfer window and at some point with the contract running down the player has to sign a new deal.

Re Gonzales. He needs more time. I think we will see more of him next year. Far to early to make a call.
We have to get into the CL or the transfer window could be difficult for us.

The football I've watched in the last 2 days has been superb and most of our players are not at that level. Someone said earlier that we were back to where we were in 2008 when we were trying to break into the CL. That was not far off.
