Tbh this is par for the course on here, there hasnt been a single player we have signed in the last ten years that a multitude of people on here havent said that they werent good enough etc, rodri was derided as being 2 slow when we 1st signed him, some people were outraged when we didnt shell out for maguire instead of dias, the list goes w

You do wonder what the clubs strategy is for replacing KDB. MGW is a decent enough player but not good enough for the aspirations we have or, for the cost, going to significantly improve the side.

A year later we will be on here saying we need to sign a KDB replacement and MGW will be blocking a place in the squad. Similarly in midfield we won’t be going for Wharton as we have a 50m pound Gonzalez/Nunes/Phillips who rarely gets trusted to play but are filling places.

The "inside knowledge" is I've watched him play. Is there another way to assess a footballer as a football fan? Perhaps you can just go off stats alone, but that doesn't do him any favours either.

Put another way, imagine that the name city were linked with was Marcus Rashford or Antony? Do you feel the same way?

I think Gundog is more of a controller/dictator of the pace of the game where as MGW is more a risk player/maverick more suited to replace KDB, as is Wirtz. Hence why I think it’s unlikely we will be chasing both of them as we also have Foden, Marmoush, Bobb who can play that advanced midfield role.

For me, if Gundog was to leave (triggered a one year extension) we would be pursuing a player more similar stylistically to a Barella, Fabian Ruiz etc.

No it doesn't money wise there is no issue, we've been in profit for the last 3 years.MGW isn't the 10, we need 2 midfielders.Marmoush will play in the front 2/3

In relation to money we have just blown 150 million plus in January and signed Haaland on a mega deal and additionally we may have to look at purchasing in other areas such as right back, goalkeeper etc.

If MGW plays in the midfield I cannot see Wirtz playing there as well. If anything Pep is getting more conservative within the midfield three. It would more likely be Rodri a controller (Gundog /Bernardo/Kova) type player along with a MGW and Wirtz, just like it has been through his whole time here.

Additionall we will also potentially have Bernardo, Kova, Gundog, Foden, Grealish, Gonzalez, Echeverri to find game time for.

If we’re all in for MGW it probably means Wirtz is a non-starter.

We've let academy products leave the club that are far better footballers than Gibbs-White.
